its a totally meaningless position. everyone loves sammy, he was a good solider and they're giving him a nice little retirement job. good work if you can get it.

i never really looked at his BR page. his seasons with the phillies, he struck out an enormous amount. good OPS+, mainly because in those days 2B was a wasteland of offensive production. i feel like he is so old but he played until 1998! he hit 0 homers in the early 90s. then as he aged, all of a sudden started hitting for power in the late 90s and got a few extra years out of his career.

say it aint so, sammy
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Yeah he had an interesting career arc and last time I was down the BR rabbit hole him playing til 98 surprised me too.

I remember the day he was dealt. Fishing down the Schuykill with my grandpop. That summer was when Trader Lee was wheeling and dealing.

As for today...maybe Nola pitches well to honor his girl Kari Lake?

Nice bounce back by Ser today.

And Nola too for not continuing to shtein himself

Don Ho

Hope someone got in this umps craw as they left the field.  pitch clock is what it it but blowing the count in the seventh could have cost them the game.

Bums don't win these last two games in the real world so good job!  3-1 series, could have easily swept them if not for the toxic waste they put on the mound Monday night.

Most of us aren't big Nola fans but hats off for getting his crap together after that disastorous third.

After that shtein Lovullo pulled Monday night, screw the D-Backs.

Agreed.

Now don't go embarrass yourselves in Oakland

It boggles my mind how Nola can be lights out for stretches, then shteins the bed as soon as anything remotely negative happens.

Todd's right - the pitch clock does not seem to be a problem when no one is on base.  As soon as someone is on, Nola can't process things quickly enough.

That's because he's a literal retard.

Anyway, nice series win.  Afternoon games can eat shtein, but it's actually nice to listen to a game at the office.  Breaks up the monotony of day after day in professional Purgatory.

man im catching strays from the perpetually drunk florida maga dude....rough scene

nola was always one of the slowest workers and would often get painfully slow with runners on. hes thus far been unable to adjust to the clock on those spots. he better come up with something quick, hes got a 94 ERA+ meaning hes below average pitcher.

I'm not in Florida homie! That's Geo and Romey. Although Texas is almost as bad. And I'm not drunk yet. This weekend I'll catch a buzz
