Ha!  As awesome as The Vet was to watch football, it was just as terrible for baseball.  That's what made the new stadium deals bittersweet.  I was stoked for the Phils but pissed about the Eagles.

The Vet was terrible for both at it's end. Just because they shtein the bed with the design of the linc, doesn't mean the vet wasnt a cesspool.

It was, but thats what made it  great too. It was our little hell hole.

lol... those superboxes were awesome. nothing like a company paying 125K a year to have a better view of the airport than the field.

maybe its just because thats all i knew (along with the spectrum) for pro sports. I loved that place, always was excited to go.

i was raised on terrible phillies teams but i can recognize that the nl east was won 4 years ago. its called confidence and until it bites me im gonna talk.

now can they get past the rockies? that i dont know. but well see in october.

The Vet was run down and I actually think the views in the Linc are better simply for the fact that you're closer.  But for football, the Vet just had this feel to it.  It was an intimidating place for visiting teams.  It was ugly and unforgiving and loud.  The Linc is too pretty for football and the crowd is 1000000x more lame.  Granted, some of that has to do with the fact that the Vet had sections of STH who had been together for a couple decades and they were all split up in the new stadium.  Maybe over time, sections will get that same type of commradarie back, but it certainly isn't what it was in the Vet.  I remember sections competing with each other doing the Eagles chant and it was like a wave making it's way around the stadium.  It was loud and rowdy.  No where near the same now.  The Linc with all of it's rules and corporate clowns sucking up seats is just not a great game experience.

I don't miss The Vet at all for baseball although the seats we sat in out in center field were awesome.  Basically five rows right off the field.   Other than that it was pretty brutal.

Like Mo said I'd go back for football in a second.  The vibe in that place was unreal and makes the Linc look like a debutante ball by comparison.

CBP is infinitely better for baseball than the Vet but the Vet for football >>>>>>>> Linc just on atmosphere alone.

Oswalt having another really solid outing.  Great season so far.  He gets ridiculously underappreciated in Philly relative to cole roy and lee.
