that loss crushed their spirit.. and now i hope lee steals their souls.  no mercy.

Rome

They were talking about the Mets on Baseball Tonight and they mentioned that Minaya & Manuel are definitely staying next year.  Kruk says, "yeah, well they better get 25 guys who can play then."

Damn!

:-D

QB Eagles

Overshadowed by the unassisted TP was that bogus inside-the-park home run that got awarded to the Mets in the first inning.

Victorino was absolutely correct to avoid touching that ball. If Raul had left it alone, there's a good chance the Phils would have gotten away with it as a double.

Kinda strange that it didn't count as an error too, since the official version of events is that the Phillies stood around and didn't pick up a live ball, allowing Pagan to get at least one base more than he would have otherwise gotten.

SunMo

no it wasn't bogus, the ground rules are very clear in that circumstance, bonehead Victorino just didn't know them.  If the ball gets wedged at the bottom of the fence, it must be played, bottom line.

Seabiscuit36

Krukker said otherwise, the rules of the stadium say if it gets wedged, its automatically a double.  Ibanez farged up by getting the ball out, and he ignorned the ground rules that are set pre game.  Thus giving the mets a HR.  Vic did everything right in that one.  knew his shtein, and did it the right way according to the books.
"For all the civic slurs, for all the unsavory things said of the Philadelphia fans, also say this: They could teach loyalty to a dog. Their capacity for pain is without limit." -Bill Lyons

SunMo

the ball wasn't even wedged, Victornio didn't even try and grab it.  the ground rules of the stadium take precedent and he should've just grabbed the ball and thrown it in instead of trying to be clever.

Yeah, no shtein....pick it up and throw it in. Why be clever with the leadoff hitter and no one on base? Its not like he knew there was a guy on first who would score easily...

And holy shtein at Bruntlett's day. I told my girlfriend how much he sucks...and he gets 3 hits. But then in the 9th after his bobbles, I think she finally understood.

I thought for sure they were gonna lose it. After Howard, Bruntlett x2....

Big Cliff goes tomorrow....3/4 is nice

QuoteJimmy Rollins, on the decision by the Mets to run in the ninth: "I'm thinking, 'That wasn't smart baseball.'"

No shtein...when I saw those guys take off I didn't understand WTF Jerry Manuel was doing.

Apparently Charlie said Bruntlett is playing for Jimmy tomorrow. UGh.

MDS

Jimmy needs a day off and does it really matter when Cliff Lee is pitching? It's not Manuel's vault his only backup infielder is Bruntlett, he can't run his guys into the ground because Bruntlett blows.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

BigEd76

they brought up Cairo when Dobbs went on the DL, but he sucks too

rjs246

.5 innings. 1 hit. 4 runs. 1 hit batter. 1 walk. 3 errors.

Yay baseball.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

because Parnell stinks?

2 HRs and 5 RBIs in 3 innings.  meh.  Howard's highlight so far is that he completed a pickoff throw to Bruntlett.

PhillyGirl

Wow, choke called out on a horrid strike call. No way did he swing at that.
