All the founding fathers, say what you want about their lifestyles, they were anything but idiots.
A lot of Jewish people, like 90% of the people who run Hollywood
Quite possibly the better part of Jew boys entire family tree.

The real idocy here is to generalize in such a manner that you group people together of which anyone with half a brain knows that a lot of them aren't anyones idiots.

All of the founding fathers?  A not inconsiderable percentage of the founding fathers were atheist.  If you are not educated about something, why talk about it at all?

To claim to believe in some theology, whether it be to ge elected or laid, is not idiotic; however to actually believe the theology is

Not the point of my post, but anyway....

QuoteNone of them were atheists, they were however all secualrists (meaning they believed that church and state should be seperate, to each his own.) but the personal beliefs of the founding fathers fell into three religious categories: first, the smallest group, founders who had left their Judeo-Christian heritages and become advocates of the enlightenment religion of nature and reason called "Deism" like Thomas Paine and Ethan Allen who believed in a supreme being who laid the foundations of the universe but doesn't intervene to break its' laws (meaning in the Deist' point of view it is unreasonable to believe in a personal god or believe in the existence of miracles which defy natural laws) The second largest group consisted of the founders who remained practicing Christians. They retained a supernaturalist worldview, a belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ, and an adherence to the teachings of their denomination. These founders included Patrick Henry, John Jay, and Samuel Adams. The largest group , consisted of founders who retained Christian loyalties and practice but were influenced by Deism. Like John Adams, George Washington, James Monroe and Benjamin Franklin.

BUT, that TJ quote was one I've nver heard of, so I ask you about your crack of not talking about something. If I'd never have brought it up, how would I have ever know about that quote?(even if I can't find it and you know usually when posting something like that a link would do well to back it up.)

mpmcgraw

you just linked and quoted wikianswers as proof.

do you see the absurbidity of what you just did?

MDS

shorebird, do you believe in unicorns?
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Diomedes

I would call the founding fathers who did not go in for religion as Deists.  Thomas Jefferson chief among them.

Uh...theres plenty more of 'em out there, that was on the top. Only one I couldn't link was your TJ quote.

This seems to be a good read on the one thing you seemed to have gotten' from a post of mine that had a completely different meaning. But hey, why let the chance to throw a insult get in the way of staying on topic?

QuoteOver the years, Jefferson's religious ideas and character have been subject to much misunderstanding and misinterpretation.

I always thought he was Episcopalian. Seems that might not be so. One thing I always thought that none of them ever were was Atheist.

OK, so for everyone who got most/all right on the NY Times religion quiz, you can try this harder one. Spoiler alert: answers are at the bottom. Also, it was a little unfair, two questions have "all of the above" as the answer, though it isn't clear anywhere that's an option. Anyway, see if you can get into heaven (and maybe cop 72 virgins - which really isn't that many if you're thinking in terms of eternity)

QuoteTest Your Savvy on Religion
By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
Time for a pop quiz.
The New York Times reported recently on a Pew Research Center poll in which religious people turned out to be remarkably uninformed about religion. Almost half of Catholics didn't understand Communion. Most Protestants didn't know that Martin Luther started the Reformation. Almost half of Jews didn't realize Maimonides was Jewish. And atheists were among the best informed about religion.

So let me give everybody another chance. And given the uproar about Islam, I'll focus on extremism and fundamentalism and, as you'll see, there's a larger point to this quiz. Note that some questions have more than one correct choice; answers are at the end.

The HS i attended will most likely shut down as a result of a priest diddling a 17 year old kid in the 60's for 2 years.  Guy won a 30million dollar suit most from the parish, and 3 mill from the highschool specifically.  The priest was a sick farg though, would drive a corvette around, and pick up the highschool boys from practices and games, and woudl put too many in the car so they had to sit on his lap.
