I don't get the hate. He's a top defensive mind and should have been the DC the last two seasons when the Birds were stuck with really bad Fangio imitators. The stereotypical Fangio defense is showing its age but I don't think he's a one-trick pony, he can adapt.

As I said before, this personnel isn't going to deliver a top defense regardless of coaching, but it's not feasible that an old head like Fangio will allow a stretch of basic ineptitude like we saw at the end of the season. This will stop the bleeding.

Here is what I was talking about, this press conference:

QuoteHowever, Sirianni said at a news conference on Wednesday — which was delayed from its initial time due to a reported meeting between Sirianni and general manager Howie Roseman — that the team's new offensive coordinator will oversee the offense. That means Sirianni will have less control over the unit. The Eagles are searching for a new offensive coordinator; it was reported Brian Johnson won't return to that same role next season.

Was Howie there?  Did he and the projectionist speak?  I was listening to WIP all week, not today, to busy but they were all talking about the big news conference.

this is kind of what theyre looking for

someone to get a few stops against patrick mahomes. of course that puts it all on jalen hurts to drop 30, which is another set of issues
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Graham and Cox are fossils.  I don't care how much love we had for them.  It's Rollins and farging Choke Dawg all over again.

CUT BAIT already.

Also - the whole "we need to rest guys" thing is stupid.  They played like soft bitches all year, and I personally think being easy on football players is the direct result of them playing soft in games.

I'm not saying they should be running gassers after every practice or hitting at full speed during them either.  But goddamn they need hard nose coaches, not new age coddlers out there.

Fangio will not tolerate that shtein and that probably does wear out its welcome after a while, but in the short term it could produce results, especially with the youngins.

Howie addressing the LB's and his belief in them.  Sorry, Dean sucks. Zach Cunningham nice, OK, but he's not the answer.

I know Marcus Hayes is a douche but this was interesting:

QuoteAfter 35 minutes of confession and penitence, this is what we learned.

— They're scared to death of their $255 million quarterback Jalen Hurts, whom Lurie takes credit for drafting and who regressed in his third full season as a starter, all under Sirianni.

— They're embarrassed over the defensive coordinator debacle; Sirianni stripped first-year coordinator Sean Desai of play-calling privileges after 13 games, and, bizarrely, did not fire him; but Desai's replacement, high-profile "advisor" Matt Patricia, was even worse. Neither will return for 2024.

— Sirianni's offense is dead. After being asked for weeks if his motion-less, RPO-based shotgun scheme had grown predictable, Sirianni finally admitted Wednesday that it had grown "a little bit stale." Sirianni gave up play-calling seven games into his rookie season in 2021, but now, possibly at the insistence of Lurie, Sirianni will defer construction of the new offense's structure and philosophy to whomever agrees to become the OC and play-caller.

— Roseman, perhaps the best GM in sports, was astonished at the collapse of his young defensive line, with first-rounders Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Nolan Smith. He doesn't have the resources to quickly fix it, and that terrifies him.

OC is way more of a crapshoot. The good ones always get promoted to HC somewhere. Not always easy to differentiate what a QB or WR coach did from the talent of the other coaches and the QB. Basically you take a young guy from a successful offense, hope he was a part of what made that tick, hope that the NFL hasn't already solved that scheme, then do it again in a couple years when he gets poached.

phattymatty

herbert had his worst year under Moore.  dak had his best once Moore left.  I'm not sold he's any good but who cares really.

PhillyPhreak54

Yeah I'd rather Kingsbury or even the Texans dude than Moore.

Matty pointed out why.

QB Eagles

I predict that if the Eagles hire Kingsbury he will be as hated by the fans as Matt Patricia before the bye week.
