Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Seems like a lot of games lately aren't scoring much

PhillyPhreak54

The theme continues today.

Five shutouts and if two games stay as they are it'll be seven shutouts.

Go through the boxes and look at some guys BA's. Ugly.

Not a good time to be betting underdogs either. I've taken a ripping this weekend playing dogs.

Dodgers and Padres is becoming must watch. Great series.

It hurts to watch some of these teams. Actually most of them suck with situational hitting. The Dodgers last night left something like 20 guys on.

I'm watching the Tigers/Royals and they may as well be in t ball with their plate approaches.

Tigers have had runners on all day and can't get them in. I just watched them get a lead off triple...and not score him. Strikeout, check swing roller, strikeout.

Pathetic.

PhillyPhreak54

They also had an inning where they get the first two on and then strikeout three times in a row.

I've got to get back to work so I stopped watching this trash

im always here to provide context to j's cranky old man rants

historically the productive out % is somewhere around 33%. meaning 1/3 of the time a player is advanced a base. this year its at 26%, last year was 25%.

so there is a drop, naturally, given the launch angle revolution and velo increases. but it was never that high to begin with. baseball is really hard! the all time leader in sac flys is eddie murray with like 120something.

QuoteMLB slash into today 232/310/390...BA would be lowest ever...in 2008 about 42% of swings put balls in play, this year 35.4%. In 08 the swing/miss % was 20% and this year it is 27.3%. Yikes.

Can't mention BA anymore. Moneyballers say it's trash.

Great stat pull.

Lol dude my head farging explodes with launch angle and revolution.

7% below historical is big. These clowns can't make contact.

Stop looking for launch angle when you have a runner on second and no outs. Get him over for chrissakes

i dont know why you love bunting so much but the game is never going back to that. the quality of athlete playing the sport is exponentially better, everyone can hit homers, there are no more light hitting middle infielders/centerfields who "move the runner" and have 650 OPS'

with that said there is a middle ground to strive for! they want to get it what it was in the mid 2000's. think moving the mound back is the only way this can happen.

Not so much hunting but productive outs. Move a runner. Or, like in a lot of games, runner on third less than two outs quit trying to Jack one. Just get the run home.

MDS

you should be a hitting coach

QuoteMike Trout with an infield single and he's 4-for-4. He's now hitting .433/.547/.833.
