Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Love is a strong word buddy. Tolerate is more like it.

They got another dood from the Astros today too. Some catcher. So they have acquired two C's today.

MDS

the yankees one is in line to be the backup...the astros one is depth

all signs point to marchan being dealt. to me, montco native and eagles fan lou trivino makes a lot of sense

Rollins has a shot eventually, but not this year.  Rolen is borderline, but I think he falls short.  Schilling is an icehole, so he'll be kept out.  No one else has the numbers to be a serious consideration.

some AFL scout musings. like i said, o'hoppes emergence likely spells a marchan trade. stott to me feels like the SS until something better comes along then theyll move him to 2B

Quote4. C Logan O'Hoppe, Phillies
Nobody is saying that the 21-year-old O'Hoppe was the fourth-best player in the fall league. But scouts think O'Hoppe did a lot to raise his stock this fall, turning himself into a legitimate prospect. In 100 plate appearances, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound backstop hit .299/.440/.519. He handled most of the catching load for the Peoria Javelinas and might have been the breakout player of the league this year.

Unlike with Moreno, though, we're back to grading on the for-a-catcher curve. He's not going to hit .300 as a big leaguer, but most catchers don't. He has average power and a fringy hit tool, although he displayed improved plate discipline in the fall by stacking up 21 walks against just 15 strikeouts. One scout said he could put 50 grades across the board on O'Hoppe, adding that he wouldn't be shocked if he eventually wound up hitting .275 with 20 homers in the majors. "I tried to pick him apart," the scout said, "but I didn't see any crazy downside."

O'Hoppe's general averageness extends to the defensive side of things, where he might turn into an average receiver with some work. (Then again, another scout said, the importance of good framers may disappear entirely if automatic balls and strikes are implemented in the not-too-distant future.) He isn't quick — one scout described O'Hoppe as "slow-bodied" — but he gets the most out of what he has. He might have been the second-best catcher in the fall league, though Giants prospect Patrick Bailey could offer competition. What's for sure is that the 22nd-round pick from Long Island left the fall league, as one scout put it, "looking like one of the more intriguing catching prospects in the game."

Quote6. SS Bryson Stott, Phillies
After he batted .318 with a .934 OPS for Peoria, you might think a first-rounder like Stott should appear higher on this list. But Stott lands here less because he didn't play well and more because evaluators expected that of him. (That, and the hitting way outpaced the pitching this year. No one expects Stott to keep up the .583 strikeout-to-walk ratio he displayed this fall.)

Stott probably isn't going to be a star, but he can be a good big-league player. His hands work well at the plate, and he has a compact swing and a gap-to-gap approach. Like other hitters on this list, he'll need to learn when to pull the ball, but he could wind up hitting .280 with between 15 and 20 home runs as a big leaguer. The question is at what position will he hit them.

Scouts are split on Stott's ability to stick at short. They all agree he's not going to be a plus defender there, but there are qualities to like. He has good instincts, soft hands and impressive body control. It comes down to how each evaluator grades Stott's quickness. "He's not a super quick-twitch guy, but he's not slow either," said one scout, who thinks Stott will remain at short. Another forecasts a move to second base. "The first step and range are below average, if not even a bit below that," that scout said. Still, the Phillies will take a solid defensive second baseman who is a steady offensive producer.

i know youre trolling but you know the difference between bought and paid for rankings of high school kids and actual professional scouts evaluating professional players.

the specific rankings in this piece have nothing to do with anything for proper context...its just the order they were written about

My feeling is that an area of seemingly unlimited weakness just got even weaker.

they likely are only paying up for 1 reliever and that reliever is going to be a fairly dependable closer. simple economics here
