You're a well seasoned sports fan. Defensive positioning can be taught. He can improve. Did I miss the memo that said players are the same throughout their career as when they're rookies?

ice grillin you

has nothing to do with positioning....he slow as dirt and will never be able to defend the pnr and he cant get off the floor to protect the rim...not to mention he has trouble running the court which effects him being able to get back...its kind of weird watching him...his feet are so good on offense but it looks like hes moving in sludge on defense and this is because on offense he can work in small spaces....but on defense the offense dictates the spacing and in todays nba he cant move around the court because he so unathletic....a big in todays game has to be able to do one of two things on d...guard the rim or be able to step out into space....he can do neither

So as an extremely young player you're saying his skills are already capped? That he will not and cannot improve in some of his deficient areas?

MDS

so just to be clear okafor at 19, 5 seconds into his nba career is now damaged goods
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i have no idea what damaged goods means....but I tried to tell you all this in college...its why i didn't want him out of the draft

of course he could jump higher or move quicker - training can do that

I guess HOFers were being measured for busts the day after their drafts?

I don't even know what this means....I think it means you think okafor has a chance to be a HOF'er?....im also confused as to why you are using the word bust....he has too high of a floor to ever be a bust

It's like I don't even know you. Or you're impaired this evening?

You say it's like the guy has no shot to improve.

I mock that by asking if HOF players are decided as soon as drafted because in your mind they'll never improve. So a guy will never improve from his rookie season because you say players can't improve for some weird reason.

I don't think Okafor is a HOFer

Bust = the statue they make of your head when inducted into a HOF

ice grillin you

people can improve but those are people who have a ceiling...or people who are deficient in areas that can be improved....a perfect example of this and also one that applies to okafor is free throw shooting (and shooting in general)....this is not only a plac you can imporve but its a place that he has improved from last year and he gets major credit for that...but these magical improvements that you are talking about don't exist

your reasoning that he might not be a terrible defender is that training will make him jump higher and be quicker.....I don't even know where to go with that

right but jumping to  conclusions 5 seconds into his nba career is pretty silly

you were never high on him, so what the hell, double down on it. in reality nobody watches or cares or follows the sixers so they can and will do whatever the farg they want up to and including trading jah tomorrow.

its not conclusions...its simply watching the guy play and knowing his physical limitationsl...I watched him religiously in college and of course this year...I see what he can and cant do

you are as bad as j in that your reasoning is on some I believe in god type shtein....like who cares what his real skills are or what hes capable of ever doing or what hes shown....all that matters is that hes only played a few games in the nba so because of that he still has a chance to be a rim protector one day....which is like saying johnny manzeil will have a strong arm at some point because hes a rookie

im not saying anything other than he has played in the nba for 5 seconds and its too early to say anything substantive about him

i of course have barely watched the sixers and will not watch much because i dont watch jv hoops...not trying to counter on anything like that.

it doesn't get more ignorant than saying something like this....everything is not black n white like that...just because a player hasn't been in the league that long does not  automatically mean everything about him can get better....you can absolutely make judgments on certain aspects of a player when they are in college much less the pros...specifically when it comes to athleticism and measureables

if I was saying he couldn't develop a 15 foot jumper or he will always be a terrible rebounder then youd have a point
