there was a play or two where he motioned to the back field next to sanchez and i had to close my eyes.  i honestly think he was moving before the snap and there was a flag for a false start that was called on someone else but probably should have been him and that was probably the best that play could have turned out. like sb said he's not even looking for the ball sometimes, he's absolutely clueless.

the real question is does chip make the hard decision if these guys don't turn it around by the playoffs.  by that i mean mccoy with his dancing around when sproles and polk usually have no problems getting yards at a clip.  keeping foles on the sideline if sanchez proves he's capable of not turning the ball over and managing the game.  and putting matthews on the outside.  obviously the last one being the least likely to happen but with the NFC being weak this year i don't see how you can't make a run for it.  but by doing that you can't have dummies doing dumb things on a "smart " football team. back pedaling, dancing, and whatever the hell cooper is doing isn't going to get you deep in the playoffs.

you could tell immediately this year that shady had lost something from last year....thats said he is going nowhere nor should he...did barry sanders get benched for backpeddling?....shadys getting nine people in the box much of the time...chris polk is getting zero attention and sproles runs the ball five times a game and two of them are screens...people arent game planning for darren sproles....without pimp shady is the one player that makes defenses change....make polk or sproles the starting half back and give them 20+ carries a game and watch how fast you wish shady was back

one thing id like to see them do with shady more...especially when the run game is struggling is to get him out in some space and throw him the ball...i know sporles has cut into this a little bit but he isnt involved in the passing game at all this year...forget the obvious mismatch advantages you have with him out there but it also will keep him involved when he isnt gaining anything on the ground

you basically said it yourself but id be shocked ife matthews gets moved outside...not only is he playing really well inside but if you move him you drastically weaken the slot...id rather have a guy thriving in the slot and a bum outside than slightly improve outside and drastically weaken the inside by putting huff there

as for foles i dont see how you could possibly bring him back short of sanchez being a complete travesty...for one foles was horrible...but more than that is that you cant change qb's with a game left in the season or for the playoffs...if somehow foles pulls a TO and is ready to comeback for lets say the seattle game then there is a descision to be made

The offensive line is why Shady is not the same.  You don't need to write War & Peace over it.

SD

It's a combination of things. Shady is not taking what the defense gives him is part of it. He used to do his jump cut, we'd all cringe, then he'd break off a 10-20 yard run. Now he's doing it and defense are all over it. Teams are focused on stopping him this season. They've been daring Foles/Sanchez to beat them. The LBs and safeties on Carolina were drifting towards the line, once he got the hand off they were closing gaps. The fortunate part is it left the middle of the field open for Matthews.

ice grillin you

hes clearly not the same runner as last year....but hes still averaged 90 yards a game over the last month...only two rb's in the nfl avg that many yards a game....and i guarantee chris polk or darren sproles would not be one of them if they were a starter

i don't see him "benching" mccoy as much as i see him giving some more carries to sproles.  especially when the games start mattering more and if mccoy still isn't producing.  hell i see mccoy waving himself out on important 3rd downs and drives now too.    also sproles hasn't been utilized enough in the offense especially recently.  i don't know if their still gun shy from his injury or what.

i agree on matthews staying inside.. moving cooper inside when he doesn't create a match up problem with anyone in the NFL doesn't really help the team, especially if matthews is comfortable in the slot right now.  even though it's technically a "promotion" they run 3 WR sets so much he shouldn't have a problem making an impact.  i'd rather see huff in for matthews at this point and he's been brutal.

never thought i'd be pulling so hard for mark sanchez.

the line is back.  i don't think todd heremeans being out got shady bottled up against a zesty d.

i agree he's being targeted more especially with jackson gone not spreading the field as much.  i think that's why chip is going so pass heavy this year.  however i do see mccoy isn't making people miss as much.  he doesn't seem to have that extra spring in his step.

Rome

The offensive line he ran behind last year hasn't played a single play together all year.  They've been much better since Lane Johnson came back, but the defenses they've faced have keyed on stopping the run too.  No doubt about it.

MDS

the offensive line excuse was valid vs. washington and the 49ers...those were disasters

against everyone else they had 3/5ths or 4/5ths of the line. in fact they ran pretty well the last few weeks, the carolina game was a different story. when you have no deep threat and a looming disaster at qb, what do you think defenses are going to focus on?
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

They can't all be Sean McDermott and Juan Castillo.

Shady isn't the same runner he was last year, line problems or not. There's not a lot of difference, but that amounts to a big difference. He just doesn't have that extra pop. Plus that dancing. He had too many touches last year and lost that extra gear. Wouldn't kill him to just dip a shoulder and deliver a good hit or straight arm once in a blue moon. He trusts his shiftiness too much and his speed not enough (at least now, that he's regained some of that speed since the earlier season).
