Ian Kennedy to the Padres for a steamy pile

davey johnson left gio out to die today...10 earned in 3.1 innings

a senile old man just destroyed my fantasy team this week. this is great. i hope he dies tonight. honestly and truthfully i hope he dies.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Ian Kennedy, Bud Norris, Justin Maxwell.....farging awesome deadline

Just booked two tickets for the Dodgers v. Yankees game tonight, nosebleeds. I get to watch Kershaw and Jeter on the same field. Well, their outlines from that distance.

So what exactly is going on with the trade market? This has been a couple years running now, and it's not just the Phillies. Are teams making a collective decision that an October run isn't worth mortgaging the farm? Are all the interesting players locked down for years? What's up?

ice grillin you

people do see to be locking up young players more often now...so that could be some of it...but i know the lack of draft pick compensation that went into effect two years ago i think has hurt the trade market.....and probably also the extra wild card tilting the scales towards their being many more buyers than sellers

which makes it even more ridiculous that the phillies did nothing
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

PhillyPhreak54

Yep - the extra wild card combined with players locked up and teams reluctant to eat salary and this is whatcha get.

Also, there seems to be less incentive to get a trade done by July 31 because teams are a lot less likely to claim players on waivers after the Padres got stuck with Randy Myers in 1998.

There are fewer trades before the July 31 trade-without-waivers deadline, and seemingly more at the end of August.

QB Eagles

That abominable second wild card is the gift that keeps on giving.

MDS

its actually good...yes it makes it silly that 5 get it in but at least it makes winning your division a true accomplishment

What does a 102 wins get you?
