nothings worse than listening to a puckhead talk about how nhl captains are different from captains in other sports because the nhl game and players are special in ways that football baseball and basketball arent

the C is overrated in all sports.  It's about the guy who takes the lead, and the heat when the team is playing like shtein.

its not overrated in any sport but hockey because in the other sports its not rated at all...only hockey is so full of themselves to call news conferences and shtein when a captain is announced

i dont even know who the captain of the sixers is

i dont even think most teams have captains in baseball and football has them but again i dont know who any of them are

Whoever goes out for the coin flip in football is usually the (co-) captain I think.  Pretty sure baseball doesn't actually have one and I have no idea about basketball.  If they do, no one (including the players) cares.

baseball has them....jeter is known as the "captain"

and i remember seeing an actual C on variteks jersey at one time

but i dont think every team does

That could be it.....some teams do, some don't.  It's def not a league wide thing like the NHL and NFL as far as I know though.  I always figured it was more of a nickname for Jeter rather than an actual title.

So Wade Redden was bought out by the Rangers.  Apparently he wants to play with Mezaros again(and against Fonzie), and is expected to sign for a small contract.
