Southwest is having a 50% off deal today only...only for a few select dates but one happens to be Nov. 6, the day after the game.

Discount is valid only on new reservations and purchase must be made on August 3, 2012 for travel on 9/5, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/31, or 11/6/12.

Might want to look into it...I haven't really checked out prices yet.

I booked mine early for fear of prices going up and not knowing that, I think like Matty said, that prices would be cheaper after summer. My luck, they would have doubled if I didn't book.

I paid $454, non-stop, round trip for mine. My ass was just a little sore.

i just checked that special and using that code on the page will save me over $100, i guess half off the return flight, comes out to $230 total.

DCA - MSY Nov 3 - Nov 6, round-trip is $240 right now on USAir assuming that I'm willing to fly out at 7:15am.

fwiw i saw on the news the other day that airline prices are supposed to plummet on august 21st for whatever reason

 fares always drop a good 10-30% in september after peak vacation time, but yeah they're saying thats going to happen a few weeks earlier this year for some reason.

Just to prepare...so what is the night scene like...I'm used to west coast time: "Bars close at 2am but last call is anywhere from 1am-1:30am".

Also, someone told me about a drink called a 'Hand Granade'...I think that's what it is called. Anyone had one?

i think its 24 hrs....i know the night i got robbed last time i was walking home with a drink at 630

a hand grenade i believe is basically like a long island but with a fruit mix instead of a suite and sour.....but dont uote me on that

N'Awlins Hand Grenade

1 1/2 oz gin
1 1/2 oz grain alcohol
1 1/2 oz melon liqueur
1 1/2 oz rum
1 1/2 oz vodka

Stir ingredients in a collins glass with ice. Add water and sugar (to taste) and serve.

I'm 90% sure I can't make it but I'm keeping hope alive. If it's a month or so prior to game time and someone has an extra ticket let me know and I'll see what I can do. If no one has an extra I'm gonna skip.
