I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you a bit there, sparky.

In a franchise league like this one, a 4th round pick is basically reserved for the 11th-12th best player on your team. Backups, sleepers, second/third tier guys go in the fourth round. Brees would very clearly be one of the top four or five players on any fantasy team. Put it this way, if I drop him in the offseason and keep Stafford, is there any chance that he isn't grabbed in the first round? I mean, give me a break.

So, um, no thanks on the 4th rounder.

Okay.  We'll see if anyone offers better.  I'm not interested.

Out of curiosity I checked this year's 4th rounders:

1. Austin Collie
(Ind - WR) Sour Krauts  -  Clearly not a starting calibre fantasy WR.
2. Rob Gronkowski
(NE - TE) Poop Bandits  -  Tight End.
3. Matthew Stafford
(Det - QB) Astroglide  -  Great pick, but obviously a question mark before the season.
4. BenJarvus Green-Ellis
(NE - RB) CharlieSheen...  -  Ha. No.
5. Percy Harvin
(Min - WR) VaticanAssas...  -  Brainmush.
6. Dallas Clark
(Ind - TE) Astroglide  -  Tight End.
7. Jimmy Graham
(NO - TE) Philadelphia...  -  Tight End.
8. Kenny Britt
(Ten - WR) Dio's Ragged...  -  Potential starter but a fringe fantasy WR.

Since Brees is a top five QB, you're looking for a first round pick?  Second round?  I can see how the guy who is trying to trade Brees might think that's a fair price, but there are only 8 teams in the league, so everyone has a great to very good starting QB.  This means that anyone who trades with you for Brees is giving up a trade pick AND a great/very good QB (assuming Brees is acquired in order to be retained), because he can't keep both.

Do you really think Brees is worth dumping a player like Vick or Ryan and giving up a first round pick?

If this were a 12 team league and rosters weren't as stacked, I think you'd have better chances of picking up a high round pick.  But every team in this league is stacked.

Also..Britt was a great pick and was proving it until the injury.  Dick.

Ha. Kenny Britt. Pffft.

I fully understand your point about Brees and the small league, and if no one is willing to give up a high pick for him I'll just keep him and make a decision in the offseason. But if anyone wants a guaranteed point machine and has an iffy QB situation that they'd like to shore up for a few years to come he's here for the taking. Players like Vick (injuries, possibly not that good, sorry homers) and Ryan (a winner but not a huge stats guy) have very obvious risks associated with them from a fantasy football perspective. Brees essentially has none.

Stop trying to subliminaly induce an offer from me Rusty!

I think Cam Newton will be owning everyone here in years to come. You'll be begging me for my scraps.

1.  I'm winning.
2.  Our 4th round is really the 11th round since we keep 7 players.
3.  WINNING!

I don't want to alarm anyone but I'm killing this league.

I'm going to smoke you with Hasslebeck as my QB.

Also, nice comeback by Sunny this week. That had to suck, eh Dio?

I was mad about Brady being on a bye the same week I play Russell, but now that Drew Brees has scored half as many points as my entire team it didn't really make a difference who the hell I had on my roster today.

rjs246

Brees won me my game in this league and lost me my game in my other money league. Which is why I am finally coming to realize that fantasy football is farging stupid. I'm in four leagues which means that I'm literally rooting for and against every player every week. Pointless.

Also, four of my players (Ray Rice, Ryan Torain, Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Decker) have combined for 4.7 points and I've still scored 109+ with Rice yet to play.

Killing this league.

It certainly didn't help any that McFadden got hurt early in the game (.7 pts) and I guess Lynch didn't even play, so I took a goose egg from him.  Pretty sad when your opponent has a player who finishes with negative points and you still lose.  I left some points on the bench, but even if I had played the highest scoring guys this week, I still would have taken a loss.  My only hope is that the Jags defense somehow holds Rice to -240 yds rushing.  It could happen!

Next week is the end of my gauntlet for the year though with the Packers bye so hopefully my team will get back to scoring like it was through the first 3 or 4 weeks of the year.
