Only Sunny, Smug, Reyes and his agent would be happy if the Phils had signed him.

Rome

18 million dollars a year for a guy who hasn't played regularly since the year the Phillies won the World Series is fantastic and is clearly much better than Papelbon's "crazy" 12.5 million per...

It's IGY logic and it's irrefutable.

QB Eagles

He's played more games the last couple of seasons than $15 million/yr Grit has.

He might not have played a full season since 2008, but I think the Marlins are okay with Reyes missing 30-odd games and winning the batting title like he did this season. 2009 is probably the only year that really gives them pause about signing a 6-year contract. As long as the AZT cocktail keeps working, anyway.

Rome

Yeah, I'm sure they'd be thrilled if he only played 130 games a year.  What's the Spanish word for "thrilled" incidentally?

SunMo

i'm such an idiot for wanting a dynamic young leadoff hitter.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

No you're not.  We all want one of those.  Reyes wasn't coming to Philly, though.  Sorry, Sunny.

PhillyPhreak54

Yes we would; Jose Reyes is not one of those dynamic young leadoff hitters.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

SunMo

ok, so Jose Reyes isn't a good leadoff hitter.

cool.

He's good on a fantasy team, not a real one.

I thought you liked sports.

The guy doesn't play hard all the time, has a low baseball IQ and gets hurt like clockwork. That screams dynamic to me.

Rome

Reyes would be a million times better than anyone else available but tying up $100M+ for a guy who repeatedly gets hurt is just daring fate to smack you down.

SunMo

it worked out well for michael vick!
