Random Eagles Information Still Not Worthy of a New Thread

I like what I see from the other Matthews, Jordan. He could be a very reliable option for Sanchez. I'd like to see what he'd do with more targets. Maybe double figures. Especially in the red zone after the catch he made last week. He's doing well as a rook and now would be a great time to step it up a bit. From what I've read Chip has some real confidence in him.

Rome

Matthews is going to be a reliable #3 but they really need a legit 1 in this offense.  And no, Pimp wasn't it and neither is Mack.  I'm not criticizing them either.   But if they had one they would be unstoppable.

What this offense really needs is a true franchise qb to run Chippers offense and then no one would be arguing about who is the no. 1 or 2 receiver because they'd all be good enough that no one would care.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I don't think Cooper is long for this team. It'll take a couple of years before Chip has his kind of players on this offense.

QB Eagles

Maclin could easily end up with more receiving yards this season than anyone in the NFL not named Antonio Brown, TY Hilton, or Demaryius Thomas. With Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez throwing (roughly) in his direction. I'm pretty sure he's a legit #1 at this point, unless your definition of #1 restricts that designation to All Pro players.

SD

A #1 wr is subjective...MacLin stat wise is s legit #1...does he have the top end talent to make defenses change their scheme because of him? There are only a handful of those guys in the league...sure it'd be great to have one but that type of player isn't needed in this offense. They need another legit threat. Matthews I like but safeties aren't losing sleep over covering him deep...he's great for the short and mid range stuff but he doesn't have the top end speed to ever be great. They'd be fine with a guy like Golden Tate...someone who can move the chains. I can see Chip adding amother big wr in the offseason (yes I know Tate is small I was giving an example of a #2 wr)

As for a qb I'll be surprised if they don't draft a guy in the first 3 rounds. I think Sanchez plays well for the rest of the season and starts next season while the guy they draft learns the offense

100%

stats don't make a #1 wr...its a look test thing and like sd said a defensive game planning thing...that's nothing against mack but can you imagine this offense with a legit #1 outside....it would be bananas....kkk is brutal and his contract is one of the worst things the franchise has ever done...imagine a massive upgrade (with a #1 or not) at that X position....drool

I wasn't around this place much during the offseason, was anyone pushing for Bridgewater at the end of round 1? Pretty sure everyone had a problem w/ Smith but don't know if Bridgewater was discussed at all

QB Eagles

If Maclin can put up great stats in Chip's system, to me that indicates it's less important to have a #1 in an offense like Chip's. A true top tier guy would have what, 100 or 200 more yards than Mack so far? There are much bigger areas for improvement available on the team.

Cooper's the weakest link on the offense (at least until Sanchez throws 4 picks on his only 4 deep balls Monday night), no argument there. At least for this season, I'd rather replace Cooper with a true #2 than replace Mack with Antonio Brown.

Outside of maybe Peters, is any Eagle among the top 3 at his position so far this year? Top 5 even? But there they are at 6-2. Someone's doing something right.

im not saying you have to have a true one to win....you obviously dont....but if you are gonna go with a offensive savant as your head coach I just think you should load up your system with great players and become unstoppable....the eagles should be #1 or 2 in offense every year under chip kelly

Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl.  So did Trent Dilfer and Doug Williams.  They're not franchise guys.  All three had raging, rampaging defenses.  Get one of those, please.

you got the wrong coach, old man

chip is an offensive mastermind (or is billed to be one). you didnt hire him to have the 85 bears.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
