its one of those long ass new yorker pieces, lots of background detail on how wilpon was raised and how he lost money to madoff/maybe was a part of it.

the quotes are just a small part of it, and actually quite accurate.

What's funny to me is that there are many people/fans in and around baseball who are wondering why Selig hasn't stepped in with the Mets like he has with the Dodgers and so despite the criticism already out there, he basically just came out and said "I make stupid baseball decisions."  How is this guy still running the team?  Why hasn't MLB stepped in? 

They took over the Dodgers (rightfully so) because McCourt was being shady on the business side of things, but on the baseball side you can at least look at the Dodgers and say that they've been to the playoffs 3x in 4 years under him and back to back NLCS.  Not to mention that he increased payroll some $30+mil.  So in that regard, McCourt had the Dodgers moving onward and upward.

I just don't see how a guy can make such a major business gaff and then say that they don't make smart baseball decisions either and not be held accountable. 

As a Phils fan, I love it.  But as a baseball fan, it pisses me off to no end.

Interesting - there was word out this week that he would not be happy as a set up man.

So he sets up for Axeford or vice versa?

And he won't hit that option for $17M or whatever now...lol
