I Need a Hobby

I've spent the last three years reading about politics and learning about policy. Now that I've done all that, I am furious with myself and desperately want a new way to spend my time. There's no surer way to make yourself angry at the world than to engage in political self-education.

Anyway, I've thrown around the idea of alcoholism and jerking off, but realized that they are already nicely scheduled into my daily life so I'm looking for suggestions. How do you clowns pass the time when you aren't rotting my brain with inanities on this site?

Martial arts, gym, or writing. I've done these. Each have their own rewards. I have a tough time writing now, though...I just can't stomach any more time typing on a keyboard for hours on end. I get enough of that at work.

I hate hunting. I did it for like ten years with my dad, but I just don't care enough to take it seriously. In fact the only thing I hate more than hunting is deer. farg those farging forest rats. Plus, for all of my pro-drinking propaganda, loaded weapons, alcohol and rjs are not things that I want to combine. Guns alone I could get into, maybe. Expensive hobby though and it would probably cut into my drinking time since, like I said, I don't want to mix the two.

Video games could happen, although I've been fighting it for so long I'm pretty sure I would feel like a failure if I started getting into them as a 32 year old.

Oh, I run to. I'll be in the philly half marathon on sunday. But i don't consider putting one foot in front of the other for a few miles much of a hobby.

guns are an expensive hobby, but its fun, and you're preparing for the zombie apocalypse.  I've always admired the crazy gun nut in Tremors. 

Videogames are a good outlet, especially to vegetate out.

I spend as much time having fun with my daughter as possible, sure it's not a 'hobby' in the traditional sense but it has it's benefits. One is that she won't grow up having Daddy issues, two when I dish her off to her Mother or Grandmother to watch her on the Sundays I'm supposed to have her (like yesterday) I don't feel so guilty getting shteinfaced and going to the Eagles game.

Video games kick major ass and if I could be paid decent money to do anything for a living that's what it would be. So go get your self an Xbox 360 and nerd it up with the rest of us.
