it's a shame jay-z is such a new yorker because i'd love for that to be the phillies anthem this series...

NEW YORK (AP) — The  New York Yankees have been blasting Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" during their playoff run. Now, the team is having the rap king perform the song live to kick off Game 1 of the World Series.

Jay-Z and fellow New Yorker Alicia Keys are set to perform the hit on Wednesday, as the Yankees take on defending World Series champs, the Philadelphia Phillies.

In an interview Monday, Jay-Z was excited about the performance, and said: "Thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee."

He calls the opportunity a "once in a lifetime experience."

Its all good...the Phillies will just trot Hall and Oates out there again. Or the drunkard Bobby Rydell. Or Patti and her 46 minute rendition of the national anthem!

If you're going to write for a living you might want to learn the difference between "to" and "too" first.

Literacy is overrated, especially with the current generation of functional illiterates we've produced, but still, editors are notorious sticklers for spelling and grammar.

The only thing worse than Philly stations playing Jay Z's song while we play the Yankees in the WS is the fact that other stations are playing lame versions like this.
