Unless the Birds know stuff beyond that NJ.com article that puts it in a darker light (very possible), I can't believe the gang stuff would be the main reason they cut ties. There's a lot of idiocy in his behavior, and maybe he skirts the edge of getting involved in the gang shtein, but nothing in that article made me think "Wow, they had to get rid of this guy."

My theory is that he became uncoachable. Chip's trying to get all those guys drinking smoothies and buying into his system, and Jaccpot isn't returning calls or showing up to meetings or showing any respect for what the rest of the team is trying to accomplish. And whenever he's not doing what he's supposed to be doing, everyone else involved with the team knows he's basically farging around and smoking weed with his crew.

That might be reason to get rid of him, but straight up releasing him is an extreme move. Maybe he's got a suspension coming down on top of everything else. There has to be something going on more than circumstantial evidence of gang affiliation.

Maybe Chip noticed him in the locker room trying to recruit Ifeanyi Momah into the Crips.

What is circumstantial about your player flashing gang signs on the field?

Reminds me of the saying about hot girls, "No matter how hot she is, some guy somewhere is sick of her shtein."

The Eagles, for some reasons we know and some we'll never know, got sick of his shtein. Probably that simple.

A celebrity from the neighborhood throwing those signs is as much a sign of criminal activity as when Snoop Dogg pretends to be an actual pimp. He's trying to look cool. He tries to walk a fine line and get away with what he can because it's his style. He farged up and probably crossed that line, and now he's out of a job.

hes an idiot for doing it because the nfl fines people for untucked jerseys and goal post dunking so hes gotta know that they arent going to take kindly to a gang sign...but him throwing a gang sign is equivalent to someone throwing a q dog sign....its a fraternity to a lot of people....its also more than that to the people who do real dirt....but because someone throws a crip sign it doesn't mean hes out doing drive by's....

I wanna hear or see something that says for years the eagles have told him to chill out on the gang stuff and hes blatantly ignored them to the point where we arrived at him being released....however if that was the case then you release him after the taterskin game

I tend to think this is more about feelings being hurt because he doesn't have the kind of personality that lurie and chip want and a bad salary fit....which is fine and completely their right but you can have the best talent possible or the best people possible (or you can have terrible untalented people like riley kkkooper)....you can be a good team or you can be a championship team...

I don't throw gang signs because, well for a bunch of reasons.  But one of them is, I know that you don't farg around with that shtein.  If you're doing it, you are either safe because you're good with them (even if you aren't an actual gun-toting member) OR you're a fargin' idiot.  Now, maybe Jackson is the latter, but I think he would know better since he's from their home turf.  I can only assume, he's doing that shtein because he's safe with them.

If I had known he was throwing actual gang signs and not just some fargin' urban shtein that I don't know because I'm not from that world, I'd have been down on him hard.  Nothing cool about those gangs.

But Jesus Christ, imagine you're Lurie or one of these guys, and your security team shows you that your superstar is farging repping for a gang in uniform.  Those meetings must have been great.

If these guys cut Jackson over being butt hurt...oh farg, I just can't believe that in any way.  How could they run the organization at all if they make such stupid decisions as this?  I mean, if you're cutting an Eagles legend because of feelings...then you're also dumping office people over petty shtein eveyr day.  You're hiring your uncle as the groundskeeper, giving contracts to food vendors because of their politics, etc.  It's just not credible.  There has to be something more than zesty feelings, or else the rest of the organization would be a complete and total farging wreck.

it wouldnt be a wreck...it would make it a good organization not a great one.....which pretty much describes them to a tee

also I could make the same argument about the gang stuff....if they released a great player simply cause he flashed a gang sign and posted some instagrams they didn't approve of then they are equally in trouble

I think it has to be more personal than that...at least I hope it is....or as others have said maybe something really gutter comes out....but I don't believe that happens....I think pimp does some stupid stuff but deep down he seems like a really good guy....theres to much of that kind of stuff on his side for him not to be....for every gang sign hes thrown theres a charity hes started or contributed to in a big way or a kid hes saved

I don't think there's anything about the Eagles recent history that suggests that they would make this move lightly. And all the armchair psychiatrist shtein, like this being because Chip has to show he's the boss, or that he wants to show he can can win with Pinkston/Thrash level players... this is a billion dollar organization. People pay money to watch this team because DeSean Jackson is exciting. Neither the Eagles nor Chip nor Lurie are stupid or dysfunctional like that.

To me the question is just why this happened. Was there a specific trigger we haven't been told yet, was it the result of a long train of abuses behind the scenes, or are the Eagles trying to make an NFL-leading statement about this gang shtein? Or all three? Cutting a player of Jackson's caliber at age 27 is rare.

I think people are frustrated because they suspect we aren't going to hear anything else, and Jackson will go to some other team and resume being a huge star without incident while the Eagles try to establish Foles with Pinkston/Thrash v2.

I think like j said there is def a shorter leash here because of chips god complex....I am not even saying he wont be right about this but I truly believe chip thinks his play book plus seven TE's plus darren sproles plus lane Johnson out wide can overcome not having good wr's and win a superbowl

Hold up now both of you.  Cooper I'll grant ain't anything special...but Maclin is a good NFL starter. It's not fair to characterize him as Pinkston/Thrash redux.

But yeah...one good WR ain't enough.  On that I'll agree.

he was a good wr before his knee collapsed....who knows what he will be after....and who knows how he will be opposite riley cooper instead of pimp

a lot rides on the draft now....its crucial they hit on whoever they draft at the position....but even hitting on a wr rarely means he has a big rookie year

Maclin is coming off an ACL. We have no idea what to expect from him. I like the guy, but sometimes that injury can change a player's game for good. And if he goes down again, yikes.

I was wondering if there was going to be any posts in this thread today.

Maybe DeSean slit the throats of 12 crack whores to steal their panties to wear on game day, and they weren't even Midnight Green. Fine, cut him. Otherwise Chip and/or the FO are idiots for releasing him and getting nothing back- especially if the reports are true of all these teams lining up with interest in him.

If not, at least hold on to him through the draft and see if they can throw him to move up. And after that there will certainly be teams in need before the season begins. He's a top 10 play maker in the NFL for chrissakes, and they can manage to get exactly 0 for him? They farged this up. Unless there's dead crack whores.

This farging franchise is cursed, and this is another example of the curse in action. I don't have enough fingers to count the pro bowlers that have left this team via free agency, being cut, or dying in car accidents.
