In college, the place we went was Joe' Place in Wayne.  Good stuff.

Real Pizza  :drool

Yeah... that, too.  No wonder I was always broke.

Tell me about it.  I went to hs a few blocks down the road from there and me and a few buddies would walk over there almost every Wed after classes and get a couple cheesesteak strombolis.  Then I'd spend all Thursday and half of Friday with mud butt, but it was worth it.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Quote1. Roast Beef on the Outs, Old Original Nick's Roast Beef, 2149 S. 20th Street, South Philadelphia. "Heaven on a bun. . . . one of Philadelphia's great gastronomic treasures." Score: 97 points out of 100.

2. The Schmitter, McNally's Tavern, 8634 Germantown Ave., Chestnut Hill. "Three layers of cheese intermingled with fresh-sliced roast beef, grilled onions, Russian dressing, Jersey tomatoes and - ah, yes - fried Hatfield salami." Score: 94.

3. Chicken Italiano, Shank's Pier 40, 901 S. Columbus Blvd., Pier 40, South Philadelphia. "This may be the greatest chicken sandwich we've ever eaten." Score: 92.

4. Hot pastrami on rye, Hershel's East Side Deli, Reading Terminal Market. "The moistest, tastiest meat you'll ever have this side of the east side of Manhattan." Score: 90.

5. Hot roast pork, Carlino's Specialty Foods, 2616 E. County Line Road, Ardmore. "Lots of provolone (too many places skimp on the cheese), strong greens and hots strong enough to make your head sweat." (John's Roast Pork of South Philadelphia finished at No. 7.) Score: 88.

6. Meatball sandwich, Pastaficio Homemade Pasta Co., Packer Park Shopping Center, South Philadelphia. "Without a doubt, the best meatball sandwich in the city." Score: 87.

ice grillin you

shanks chick italy was number one for like the first month or so of that thing so i tried it a while back and it was very underwhelming

nicks speaks for itself...the all time goat sandwich anywhere

pastificio is a hidden gem ive been going to for years...great hoagies

still somehow have never been to mcnallys...has anyone had an og schmitter?
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

General_Failure

I'm not sure if I could eat a goat sandwich. I figure since I don't like lamb, I probably wouldn't like that.

never had the Schmitter at McNallys, but the Citizen Bank Park version has gone downhill over the years.  The first year they had it, it was money.   Ive had a handful over the years and the one i had this season was the weakest yet.   Now its just mass produced with no love.

ice grillin you

yeah ive been tempted to try the bank one but ive vowed to hold firm and not have any schmitter until i have the real deal first....i figured it was mass produced averageness

phattymatty

yeah i've had the cbp schmitter and it's nothing special.

Rome

the cbp schmitter tastes awful.  don't know about the mcnally's one, though.  i'm sure it's better just like tony luke's is better than the stadium shtein.

and i agree with igy about nick's.  it's unreal.

Finally had a cheesesteak at the White House in AC. I can't say it was the best cheesesteak I ever had, but it was definitely good. Macnow has it ranked 9th and I'd probably rank it in that vicinity...but more like top 10-15. If it were in Philly people wouldn't make as big of a deal about it imo.

Rome

you dumb polack.  why the farg didn't you get the white house special like i told you to?

MDS

i cant tell whether the shady non casino part of ac depression of whitehouse makes the steak better or worse

either way its about what guido diwopo said....borderline top 10
