Macnow's cheesesteak challenge

I didn't want to get this lost in the random musings thread. Macnow went on a 40 day cheesteak bender and came up with this list. He has John's Roast Pork cheesteaks ranked highest, I've eaten there 3 or 4 times and they definitely have great steaks. I was glad to see him give so much love to the Northeast because growing up in that area I've always thought it was the mecca of steaks.

i ate at johns last week because they were listed as his best steak...ive been there many times for the pork and never thought to get a steak so take into consideration that its the only steak ive ever gotten there but i thought it was horrible


also he did his contest with provolone...a steak aint a steak without wiz


steves which i think he had at #2 is my favorite in the city


i hope he does hoagies next

I thought I was the only one.  That little shack right off Cottman is basically a portal to heaven.

Steve's kicks the shtein out of Pat's, Geno's, Tony Luke's, and Jim's.  I've never been to John's, but PhillyGirl has always said it's the best.  Actually, that's probably why I didn't make a point to get there.

genius the name of the place is johns roast pork but they serve cheesesteaks and i agree pats is a thousand times better than genos...genos is xenophobic garbage

I grew up on provolone...wiz is crap

I grew up 5-10 from Steve's but I was never a big fan of their steaks. I was glad to see he had Frusco's on Frankford ave. on there because that place is good. The fries are better than the steaks though.
