But now McNabb can't buy the time he used to.

Heck, Trotter could probably run him down.

I don't think so. McNabb was running out of tackles yesterday, not all the time but he showed good mobility to me considering he's playing on a knee thats around 80%.

He was breaking tackles, but he seemed darn slow.  It was even mentioned in the game thread - by more than just me.

Could be the fact that the knee isn't 100%, but he seemed slow to me.

He didn't seem slow, he was slow.  And I mentioned that in the game thread as well.  But he did look strong in the sense that he did shed several would be tacklers in the backfield.  He definately didn't have any explosiveness to him and he didn't even attempt to make any juke moves the couple of times he took off running.  He pretty much took the yardage he could and then headed for the sidelines.

My biggest concern was that he just looked lost and it was against a defense that wasn't throwing him a lot of complex pass rushes or defenses.  He just seemed like he was trying to catch up with the speed of the game and couldn't.  He wasn't looking at his recievers right away but instead was checking out the pass rush and he wasn't looking off the safeties and linebackers either.  He was just locked into his reciever and letting it go.

When McNabb tore his ACL last year, I wasn't really worried about him making it back by opening day.  My concern was that he wouldn't mentally be ready to play on his knee and that seemed to be the case yesterday.  He was tentative in the pocket and probably a little scared to take a hit.  Maybe he has a better showing this week now that he has a full game under his belt and didn't hurt his knee.  I don't know how long it will take.  But until he regains that confidence in his knee again I think we're going to see more performances like the one we saw yesterday.

Don Ho

definately no "giddy-up" in his step like were used to.  line played like shtein though in his defense.  I hardly ever recall the Packers sending the house.  4 man rush was in his face throughout the game.

So when are they bringing in a punt returner?

He'll be alright, it was the first game after an injury with a long layoff. We'll be seeing more games like yesterday if his no. 1 reciever can't get open.

btw...when the Ravens dedicated kick/punt returner got hurt, they put their all pro safety back there, and he returned it for a touchdown

the eagles casually threw their 5th wideout back there and hoped for the best

Reid's putting Shawn Andrews back there next week.

Billick's a terrible coach, but he can even get a punt returner right, it just goes to show how bad Reid farged it up.

Your right he is a terrible coach with a ring.  Reid is just a terrible coach.

I keep scanning PFT, KFFL, PE.com, etc. for some blurb about the Eagles being active in terms of correcting the position. So far, I've only found this drivel (on PE.com naturally):

Quote"Obviously we made too many mistakes. I'll take the blame for that, in particular in the punt return game," Reid said. "It's my responsibility to put guys back there than can do a better job and so that's again my responsibility and my problem."

QuoteThe coach vowed to have the return game sorted out by the time the Eagles take the field against the taterskins in the home opener on Monday night, but said he was not sure whether the solution would come from within the organization or from a new addition.
I'll farging kill someone if they don't bring somebody in.

Quote"Obviously we thought we could get it done with the guys we had there and it didn't work out this game," Reid reiterated. "Again, I'm not ruling out the guys that are here either, that's my responsibility to have it right and I didn't get this one right."

Oh.....motherfarger. Fat motherfarger. Fix it you stubborn bastich!

Is that why he threw on 4th and goal from the 1?  :-D
