Thank God for McNabb.  The Detmer/Hoying hype is laughable now but was real at the time.  I was going through some of my old stuff and saw that the Eagles drafted Craig Erickson in 1991.  I remember he was pretty good in college at the U but I can't remember doing anything in the pros.  Did he fade away or an injury casualty?

If I recall Erickson actually looked pretty good in camp.  He ended up at Tampa and actually had one good season in 93 or 94.  I think he just faded away but he played about 8 years in the league.  I do remember that  he spent a year with the Colts.

one of the years he spent with TB wasnt half bad if i recall.

We sure could have used Erickson.  Missed the playoffs when Dallas came into the Vet and beat the birds.  Kemp started that game.  Beat the skins on a last second Ruzack FG the final week.

I still have 2 Randall Bars.  Maybe they have autographs inside?

Something happened with the Eagles like they couldn't sign him right? He did have a good year or two in Tampa, then he faded and they drafted Dilfer.

Your right for some reason they could sign him and I think he re-entered the draft the following year.

Try to find an article from when the Eagles drafted Jon Harris, or Mike Mamula, or Bernard Williams.

I want to see the hype around them from way back yonder...

I was at that game!!

My friends dad got us primo seats. Like 12 rows up from the field. Just enough lift to see over the players heads and get a great view.

I had this old lady next to me with a goddamn cowbell that she kept ringing and ringing. I made a point to tell me friend loud enough that I thought senior citizens all had bad arthritis and if she didn't I hoped she got it soon.

Anyways, I still remember that play like it just happened. Zordich blitzed and Aikman had to try to move to find a target. He couldn't and Mullet Mike was closing in on him. He panics and tries to hit Moose and there's Whatchoo Talkin' 'Bout right there. Then he laterals to Troy and he has an escort of Ronnie Dixon (I think it was him) to the EZ.

The sound in the shteinhold stadium was priceless...silence. Except for the bursts of cheers from Eagles fans and me and my loudmouth screaming "I can't farging believe it!!"

haha, oh yes there are some good Bobby Hoying things to post in the near future.

:-D This promises to get scary! But good stuff, Murp, thanks for posting. I well remember the brief period of Detmer-mania  ;)

It was around this time that my wife went out and bought me a Ty Detmer jersey.  Still have it tucked away someplace...it hasn't been worn much.
