I'm fine with either Detmer or Chang as the #3.  Taking Leinart in the 1st, even if he'd somehow slipped to 14 and we didn't have to trade up, would have been a disaster.  A lot of people have been saying we need a QB but Detmer is a great locker room guy and is a #3-caliber QB and if you're looking for a younger QB who you can develop and trade then Chang's your guy (he's been doing great in Europe from what I've heard)

You would advocate spending a first round pick (and more, since the Eagles would have had to move up to at least #10) on Matt Leinart, to have him sit on the bench or hold a clipboard for at least four years behind Donovan McNabb, to he could be "groomed?"

sorry, i agree with you on lineart.  i just keep thinking how mcnabb is getting banged up, and at some point we have to draft his replacement (or trade).  i keep hearing how difficult this offense is, so it seems to make sense to draft a young guy and let him learn for a while.
