Even better when it's a #1 pick...

By the way, in looking at the Threshers site (since they beat my Ft. Myers Miracle in 20 innings last night), I see that old Greg Gross is the hitting coach there.

then i agree with him not listening to advice

And Sal Fasano looks like "The Duke" from Major League

sal fasano without a mustache

That and the Aj Hawk ones are dead on.

And Fasano does look like "Hey meat, how's your wife and my kids" from Major League with the curls and the fumanchu though.

And no one should listen to Greg Gross. He blows.

Ryan Madson on the mound tonight against the surprising Rockies.

i DVR'd the game and just watched the 1st inning, Charlie genius lineup strikes again.  Howard gets intentionally walked to load the bases for Bell, not Nunez, and of course he doesn't get a hit.

Yep, that lineup is really preventing the Phils from scoring runs tonight...  ;)

Don Ho

Madson must be doing roids.  3-3!

So is Chase 4 hr's in 2 games.

Is there any way to get  David Bell to sub in for David Blaine's next magic trick in New York?

As of right now, the highest batting average among the regulars belongs to...

Mike Lieberthal (.346)
Howard is .343
Rollins is .341
Rowand is .324
Abreu is .316
Burrell is .286
Utley is .282
Bell is .200  :boom
Heck, right now Madsen is hitting .600  :-D

Geowhizzer

Santana makes it interesting in the ninth.  :boom

10-7, Rhodes in to try to close it out.

Geowhizzer

Baserunning error by Jason Smith seals the game for the Phils.  He got himself thrown out at 3rd on Miguel Ojeda's pinch-hit single.  Otherwise, Cory Sullivan bats as the potential winning run.

Phillies 10, Rockies 8

Madsen gets the win (1-0).
Tom Gordon gets a shaky save. (#3)

Howard is in a power funk anyways. And until he gets his swing right he will not drive the ball. It looks like he is standing a little bit more off the plate than he has in the past and pitchers are busting him outside and with offspeed junk. He's making contact and has a good average and all, but he looked bad on some swings lately.

Would him hitting 5th change that if Rowand was hitting 6th? How else would you construct the line-up without bunching too many LH's together and without removing Utley and Abreu from RBI spots?

Our only hope is that Bell's back goes out and he has to go on the DL. Seriously.

Rollins
Utley
Abreu
Burrell
Howard
Rowand
Bell
Lieberthal

That is about as close as you can get to a lineup that is somewhat balanced and not too far fetched, IMO. But with Utley in the 2-hole is that taking away runs from the team?

Rollins
Nunez
Abreu
Burrell
Utley
Howard
Rowand
Lieberthal/ Sal

That is how I would like to see it. I like Rowand in the 7th hole because he eliminates the "Black Hole" in the 7-8-9 spots that is there when Bell hits 7th and Lieby is 8th.

The problem here is twofold; first problem is Bell and Lieby. Second problem is that most of your best hitters are Abreu, Utley and Howard are LH. So you are limited to where you can put them. If you have them too bunched up then LHP's from the BP would eat them up.

Nice job by Julio Santana tonight. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too interesting of a game in the end. Great job by Victorino. He has now gunned 2 players out in a limited role.

I was out for a bit, came back the room to a 10-4 score in the 8th. I left and 30 minutes later wound up in a bar on campus, and I saw Gordon pitching on TV. God damn Phillies never make it easy, do they.

4-6, a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PhillyPhreak54

Did you hear the line Wheels had tonight?

I was dying!

The Phils have this stuffed monkey in a Phils uniform hanging in the dugout. I guess they started putting it up last night in ATL.

Anyways -- they come back from a break and they show a pic of the monkey hanging there. And Wheels says "Boy, that monkey has some long balls.....in him tonight".

He paused after the balls and knew what he just said and Scott Graham tried to pretend like he didn't say it, but Wheels knew it.

Wheels loves long ballsacks.

MDS

haha i saw that over philliesphans. that guy is seriously awsome now. like i couldnt care less that hes not informative or that he acts like a funhole. hes become a characture of himself and its entertaining to listen to him say idiotic things and constantley quote things directly out of his very own glossary.
