Btw, anyone else think the parent that filed the complaint about his kid's team being bullied is a total douche?

Rome

When I was a kid we beat a team 29-2 in Babe Ruth.  After the game was over the manager of the other team screamed at his players for 10 minutes.  The next time we played them we won but it was much, much closer.  We just kicked their asses the first time, they learned a lesson, and the next time they played us, they fought us tooth and nail.    I can only imagine how much time that guy would spend in jail for screaming at his team for playing like Hoydas the first time.

The pussification of America continued unabated and parents like the bitch that filed a complaint should be sterilized.

So who will be the next Cowboys coach?

DeMarco Murray is pissed at Romo because he keeps checking out of runs. Romo is pissed at Garrett. A real nice mess down in Big D.

My first year coaching little league football, we played against Liberty Bell. They were up 14-0 at the half, two of their dads were working the chains since they were the home team. They were acting like total douchebags. We had a problem with their weigh in scale, their AD acted like a complete ass. They ran up the score on us and we didn't say a word.

Flip to the next season, we freaking crushed them. Opening play my cousin took it 90 yards to the house. It was 21-0 at the half. We kept our starters in until the 4th. Their coaches had words with us after the game for running up the score. I asked their fat dick of a head coach if he remembered the previous season. He shook his head in disbelief.

Moral of the story: farg Liberty Bell

people learn lessons by losing.  first and foremost they learn how much it sucks and how it really should be avoided whenever possible.   this "everyone gets a trophy" shtein is nauseating to me and that's why i quit coaching youth basketball.  my last team went undefeated.  i held practices three days a week and ran their little asses like a taskmaster.   during the final game i left the starters in until they had ran up a huge lead, then i put the other kids in.  after the game was over the commissioner of the league thanked me for my dedication, then informed me that my old school ways weren't a good fit for the "fun" league they had in mind and i was politely asked not to return.

btw... the championship trophies were exactly the same as the ones they gave the winless team.

sickening.

Munson

My first year playing pee wee football we went 0-7-1...I wanted to quit because it wasn't fun...but then they gave us a giant gold painted trophy, so I wanted to keep playing. And I did, and ended up playing all the way through high school.

The problem is not "everyone gets a trophy"...the problem is the parents and coaches bitching when their team gets beat. Some of your kids might suck at football, get over it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Rome

Not for nothing Munson but you're a member of the generation of spoiled brats I had to coach.  They gave you a farging trophy for sucking.   If they hadn't you might have realized that success brings rewards whereas failure should not.   This country is failing at a lot of things these days and that's one of the main reasons why.

Munson

Yeah, but had it not been for that trophy, I might not have gone back to play next year, and maybe never played again.

We went 4-3-1 and the next year and made the playoffs for the first time in the team's history. And it was a much more fun season because of the winning. Kids tend to figure out that they have more fun when they win.

Getting a trophy doesn't make you a spoiled brat, nor does it make you think losing is okay. Bad parenting does that.

PhillyPhreak54

Completely disagree.

Not getting a trophy should make you go back to win one the next year. Getting one for not winning is a farce. It breeds no competitiveness and the feeling that you don't need to work as hard.

The trophy for everyone is a complete pussification of America.

Rome

I hate cheering in any way for the taterskins.   I know we need them to beat these corksuckers, but farg...

Munson

I wasn't playing for the trophy the first year, I was playing because I wanted to have fun playing a sport I loved watching. But when you're 6 and your team goes 0-7-1, you don't have a lot of fun. It's pretty much the opposite of fun at that point.

I didn't even realize there were trophies involved until I got one at the banquet. Then I definitely wanted to go back and win a bigger one.

I think you guys bought into the trophy hype way too much.

Nah it's a real thing. It's part of the issue where people expect things for no reason.

Want it? Go earn it.
