I'd love to hear your account of how it goes when you give notice.

I'll definitely report in.

I think the boss is bipolar. Some days she is a total pain, and other days she is really nice. Today was a nice day, because I told her that I passed my exam (a week ahead of the deadline). I almost feel bad that I'm going to disappoint her.

Almost.

I just went and looked up six sigma; Very disappointed to learn that it's a business management scheme and not an obscure oriental fighting discipline.

Haha....I thought the same thing until his last post when he said his boss was happy about him passing ahead of schedule.  I was really hoping that Sus was turning into some sort of ninja and that he was going to murderdeathkill everyone at work with his bare hands.  And maybe a sword or something.

Actually, I do now hold a teaching certification for tai chi. And I have practiced with sword and spear, as well as several bare hand forms.

Passed my six sigma black belt exam today, so I'm officially certifiable.

The plan is to call off sick tomorrow, takes a week vacation, and turn in my notice on the Monday I return.

Farg them all.
Do you have something else lined up?  If not, why not just stay and put in minimal effort while you job search?  I guess it must be a pretty bad situation.

That's pretty much what I've been doing. I've been hoping that they see me as dead wood and decide to lay me off. That way I'd get some severance pay at least.

But it hasn't worked. I just get lots more pressure, with threats and continual progress reports and workload status meetings. The whole thing is a pile of stressful crap, and I just want to get off the merry-go-round. And when I leave, I can go on my wife's health insurance, so that's not a problem.

I do have some things lining up right now. And if it all falls through, I'd be happily self employed, using my photography to help pay the bills.

Good for you.  Good luck.

I am also disappointed.

Rome

Something is seriously wrong with this country when a successful, intelligent & productive worker gets royally farged up the ass after a quarter of a century in the same company.

Nuke 'em all to hell, I say.

Diomedes

Health care premiums on his old ass are too damn high, cutting into profits for shareholders and multi-millionaire execs...gotta make the place so lousy he won't stay.  Happens every day.

It's a sign when the "HR rep" is now called "HR Business Partner." It pretty much confirms who their primary concern is.

so to recap, companies would rather wine and dine media than service consumers.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Ha..Gotta love Comcast.
