I hate my job!

So...things have gotten pretty intolerable at my job. I'm now trying to "manage projects," rather than doing anything creative or interesting. I have several activities that would otherwise BE a full-time job, and I'm having trouble getting it all done. To top it off, the new management in my group is putting pressure on top of pressure, and if I don't get fired soon, I might just voluntarily walk after 25 years on the job.

A this point, I don't care if I have to work 2 or 3 part time gigs to pay the bills. If I stay where I am, I will need to check into either a mental ward or a morgue.

Farg the man.

Quit.  Tell them they can hire you back as a contractor/consultant, set your rate high enough to make it worth your while, and enjoy some time off before they come crawling back to you.

Thanks...that does sound like a nice idea, but they can't pay me enough to deal with the shtein they're handing me.

Diomedes

Christ, that's bad.  25 years and this...sorry man.

Yeah sorry to hear that man. I assume you've voiced your concerns only to be stonewalled by middle management?

That's what happens to me. I've begged for help and I'm clocking 65-80hrs a week and its going to kill me.

I haven't yelled up the org chart at this point, but I know that management 1 and 2 levels above my boss are pretty much all on the same page. I tried to meet with my HR rep, but he hasn't responded yet. From what I hear, he's pretty tight with management, as well, so I don't know how much it would help.

Good luck man. If you do run it up the chain hopefully you'll have someone who genuinely listens to your concerns. 25yrs is a lot of time and equity in a place and I'd hate to see that to away

Passed my six sigma black belt exam today, so I'm officially certifiable.

The plan is to call off sick tomorrow, takes a week vacation, and turn in my notice on the Monday I return.

Farg them all.

I completely feel that particular pain, Sus. Not that it helps.

I remember about 3 or 4 weeks before I got out, my unit was conducting a pistol range.  I wanted to go shoot for the simple fact that I enjoy shooting and it was going to be my last opportunity to get on a military range.  The morning of I was told to leave because the CO was out there and he didn't feel comfortable with me handling live rounds.  Farging puss.

Congrats on both counts and good luck.
