Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

So I interviewed for a full time Air Force gig (AGR).  As a newly promoted major with over 12 years it looks like the base pay is $82 grand and with BAH around $99.  It would probably be a 5 year tour in Richmond.  The state job has to be kept during that time and I come back to it at the same pay and level.  This would be a pretty significant increase in pay for me.  In the mean time, I am hoping my boss will retire since I can't get promoted until he leaves.  Any thoughts?

The state job is safe and secure and no stress.  I am definitely in line for promotion as I have been told by all of upper management.  Pro-more money and change of duties.  Con - possible increased stress and being viewed negatively by current management.

I agree. Just because upper management says you're in line for a promotion doesn't mean you're first in line or you're even in the right line. If added stress is the only con, move on because every job should have stress...that's why they call it work and not happy fun time.

Thanks.  It confirms my current thoughts.

If you can get an AGR gig, then go for it. I've looked at that as a means of finishing my 20 but every state I've looked at has the same policy that basically says you can't have more than 15 yrs ACDU time accumulated. I've got 17 yrs.  I'm sure it's waiverable so if I can find the right position in the right location, I still may throw an application together.

I'm unemployed and don't live in Richmond. Double win.
