I do online advertising. So, for example, if you go onto cnn.com and you see a Bose banner ad on the side of the page, that was one of my clients. On your phone, when you go to a mobile site and see a banner ad....I Might have had it placed there.

After being in the biz for so long, this company could not make me sign an NDA or non-compete. I brought with me too many contacts and relationships. So any clients or contacts I have, I already had and don't need to take them from here :)

Thanks Mike.  :D

Can you stop Philly.com from playing videos when I open up an article? That would be swell.

Well done PG

What's the o/u on how long before she turns Republican?  I say three tax cycles after she starts to make good money, which will take a couple years so I'll peg it at 5 years and take the under.

Ok, so I've taken a couple of resume writing classes in the past and I've updated my resume over the years as I've aquired new skills, responsibilities, etc so I think it's a pretty solid resume.  Then last week I took a class on gaining federal employment (specifically applying on USA Jobs) and the instructor said that we should get rid of all the bullet points on our resume and write paragraphs about our experience and expertise.  Said that a quality resume for federal employment should be at least 5 pages long.  I know a few of you have fed jobs....any truth to this?

Wow. That's the complete opposite of the private sector. I had a hard time getting mine down to 2 pages, but anything more than that is frowned upon in general for most jobs.

ice grillin you

mine is all bullet points....but i havent applied for a govt job since the emphasis has gone away from KSA's and perhaps in the absence of those they want resumes in more essay form now as opposed to bullets

ill ask my supervisor this afternoon what he thinks

Yes...this is correct. Ditch the bullet points and write paragraphs. My federal resume is 6-8 pages long. Remember to tell your story, don't just write mundane details about what you did. I spent 10 hours writing my federal resume and got call backs from all 8 jobs I applied for.

Good guideline to use: http://www.taonline.com/ticpages/ticfederal.asp#Veterans_preference

They still use KSA's

You can contact a counselor who assists veterans with finding federal employment...they'll go over your resume too. The guy who helped me even called the VA to see if I was hired. I can't access my email from this computer but when I get home I'll shoot you a pm with his email address.

Yeah, my "civilian" resume was difficult to start writing because it's pretty damn hard cramming 15+ years of experience into less than 2 full pages.  But I've been conditioned over the years to do that because everything I've been told says that's the way they want it in the civilian world.  Now I'm finding it equally difficult to take my bullet points and expand them into full paragraphs.  I've got 2 full pages just on my most recent duty assignment and I was being frugal with my wording just to keep it to 2 pages.  I want to cover at least my 3 most recent duty assignments and if I start getting a little too wordy, I'll be upwards of 10 pages before I know it....and that would probably be bad.

Here's another question for fed employees.....

I'm looking at multiple job postings on USA Jobs, but the one I'm most interested in has this under qualifications:

QuoteApplicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a ......

The job I currently hold is probably on par with a GS-9.  However, when looking at the duties and responsibilities of the job, I've not only done what they require but I've actually done more.  Is this something I should worry about or should I just submit an application anyway?
