How did it end or how did it leave off? Is your manager cool with you or was it a true ass reaming?

i'm doing a series of subway stations in Pittsburgh and the last one downtown, the centerpiece of the project is supposed to be finished by late March.  that should be fine except for the contractor finally released me to order a product with a 6-8 week lead time.  So, it might get there in time, it might not.  Top that off with there is a non-movable opening ceremony in which the Vice President is going to attend.

So, between now and the end of the March I will be having sleepless nights and an ulcer.  Yay!

Why stress? I understand you take your job seriously and more than likely do it well, but you've done what you can.

because it's one of the situations where it doesn't matter who's fault or what happened, that shtein needs to be done or heads will roll

As someone who has had stress from owning my own business and making great money to working for the man and making almost none, I can say without a moment's hesitation that the former owns the latter like you wouldn't believe.

I don't care how bad your work life is... if you're making a ton of dough, stick it out.  It's better than the alternative.

SunMo

well that's the next point i will bring up.  if i was doing just my job as a project manager I am probably $10k underpaid annually.  I make good money, but not industry standard from the research I've done. Combine that with the fact that over the past 6 months I've been given additional responsibilities that are above and beyond and my pay hasn't gone up at all.  that will have to change soon.

I would demand additional pay simply due to the fact that your job seems to require at least semi-regular trips to Pittsburgh.

And that's probably been my biggest beef with the military....I get a bunch of additional jobs and responsibilities thrown at me but no pay compensation for the extra work.  Farging bullshtein.

i'm a shooting star, son.  my owner tells me continuously that he wishes he had 10 of me.

all owners wish they had ten people who got paid 60% of what they're worth.

no owners want people who get paid 100% of what they are worth.

Little bit of both - he made it real clear to me that I farged up, but at the same time told me we will keep it between us, nothing will be done - basically, don't even try to think about doing it again....which was funny because he admitted to me  that he has done the same thing on more than a few occassions throughout his career.

I hadn't had that kind of sinking feeling in my stomach since an old college gf called me out for cheating on her. The feeling of knowing they know, but the stupid thought that if I stick to my story strong enough, I'll be able to get away with it.

Sgt PSN

He handled it exactly the right way. If I were your boss I would have chewed you out for not inviting me.

Is the 6-8 weeks from the day they get the order? Are they the only contractor that can provide the product?

He's your dad, right?

You're not getting a raise.

no, my dad is the president, the owner is an asian gentleman

That little vignette makes me cringe, DH.  You're lucky to still have work.
