Yeah, that's pretty much it.  Funny thing is that had I submitted my reenlistment paperwork a week or 2 sooner, this wouldn't have been an issue.  But I couldn't submit sooner because I was on a limited duty status for a bulging disk in my back (along with a couple other medical issues) and you can't reenlist unless you are on full duty.  When I was re-examined in Auguest, I was told that even though my back wasn't complelely fixed, it wasn't bad enough to require surgery so I could not remain on limited duty.  My options were either go back on full duty, suck it up and hope the condition doesn't get worse or take a medical separation.  I opted for full duty and submitted my reenlistment as soon as I was cleared, but that new policy had just been approved.

So I guess I'll have to see if I can get into the Army or something so I can get my 20.  I don't know if they'll take me because I'm so senior but I guess it's worth a shot.

I'm sorry too. That being said, be a marine and go to war.

Good advice.  A little known secret is that every Marine gets the firing code to 1 nuclear missile.  I'm aiming mine towards China.

ok i just remembered this happened

2 weeks or so ago i get an email from an editor out in cali for a gig i applied for. asked if i could live on the proposed ballpark salary in this area (in between sf/la). said get back to me within a few days. i said yea i can do that the next morning.

thats been it.

so was i a finalist or something, then they just went in another direction and didnt bother telling me? or was this sent to everyone who applied and its bs for me.

my guess is the first...they are just being unprofessional and not letting me know the job is filled.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

You were looking in Bakersfield, weren't you?

hahahaha@unprofessional. Be surprised they contacted you to begin with; don't expect them to let you know when you lose

You lose because you obviously didn't get the job and San Luis Obispo is almost an alternate route of the PCH

hbionic

You lose because you are still in texas and didn't bother googling some apartments on the web and doing the math. You deserve Texas as much as Texas deserves you. (if you are still in Texas, I haven't been following).

Damn Sarge, what the F? That is a major buttfarg courtesy of the military.

Did they say anything about your bulging package?

Actually the little guy is right.  That's completely unprofessional but all too common behavior these days.

its one thing to never get back to me....generally you like to a mass email sent to everyone saying we have our finalists, thanks for applying. but you rarely get that.

to get to what i think was the next level and then for 2 weeks to go by without a peep....eh...not good. if they found someone, if its on hold, too busy to touch it, whatever. something should have been sent.

i just emailed the dude...its been 2 weeks since the email he sent to me, so well see. im not expecting anything out of this but i did drive through this part of the country and its off the charts. plus there are loads of smart asians in this town.
