no question, go to school.

I will, just not sure if I want to go full time to finish up.

SD, is Chapter 33 the new 9/11 GI Bill?  I haven't looked into it much yet because I didn't think I'd be needing it quite so soon but I heard it's a major upgrade from Montgomery.

Yes. It covers full tuition, books (buy online and pocket the rest) and bah for your area. Going back to school sounds like a big deal but it's a piece of cake next to the shtein you've put yourself through for the last 16 years.

And you probably know this already but make sure EVERYTHING is documented in your medical record and file a claim asap since you'll get back pay on your claim from the date you filed. It takes about 6 months to get a %.

Use your GI Bill and what you get from disability and you might not even need a part time job depending on what you are rated at by the VA.

I'm hoping for 40-50% so it will basically be like I'm retiring a couple years early. My spine is curving, my right hip is out of whack, arthritis in both knees and nerve damage in my left leg and left forearm.  Yay me!

Yeah, but the pain that comes with that is pleasure.

Can't say for certain.  Anything above 30% from the military is considered medically retired I beleive.  But it's too early to tell.  And truth be told, I doubt I'll be getting out in January because I'd have to go through the med board process which will likely take longer than that, but my contract is up in Jan and I'm just rolling with that for now and planning as though I could be out that soon.  Regardless, I think I've got a year left at the most so I still need to start getting ready.

One thing I'd like to do is get my resume out there and even go on a few interviews just so I can get some practice.

Nice.

For some reason as I was reading them my mind was doing so in Gunnery Sgt Hartmann's voice. So when I got to the part where he said he was not fond of hippies, long-hairs, dope fiends or alcoholics I cracked up.

You get an automatic 10% for tinnitus (guy from the VFW told me this at taps). In my case I have an annoying ringing in my ears from working on the flight deck amongst other things. It's so bad I can't think straight when there's too much silence...I usually throw the radio on low volume when I'm studying.

Overall I'm rated at 50%. I'd trade every cent of it for a healthy back but such is life.
