if the govt is shut down tomorrow which i doubt then im calling in on friday which bring me into presidents day weekend where i get off monday and tuesday which will mean i will have not worked in 11 days and only had to take 8 hours of leave

it's like the xmas/new year period where there's only like 3 work days between the 2 holidays so if you just take the time off, you're out of work for about 12 days and only getting charged 3 days vacation.  not sure how you get paid (hourly v salary) but for me, i'm getting paid whether i'm at work or not so that's an exceptionally awesome time of the year for me.

i don't know what that means. 

but what i do know is that i hardly ever take leave days because i get so many days off during the year thanks damn near every month having 1 or 2 fed observed holidays with each one netting me a 4 day weekend.  nov and dec is the farging shtein because i get 4 days off for veteran's day, turkey day, xmas and new years.  during those 2 months, i only have something like 31 actual working days.  nice. 

not to mention that if i need a day off to take care of something, i just take the day off.  the only real need for me to use vacation days is if i plan on being out of work for 3 or more consecutive days. 

i earn 30 days of vacation each year and right now i have a balance of 52 days.  i'm going to have to take a few days here and there over the next few months because i need to be under 60 days come oct 1 of every year otherwise i lose those excess days.  i have no idea why, but the military doesn't want anyone to have more than 2 months saved up at the start of the fiscal year.

the 240 is the amount of hrs you cant go above...similar to your 60 days...which is 480 or double what i can carry

depends......we actually worked a lot in january didn't have a single weekend off during the entire month with the exception of new years.  at one point, i worked 26 straight days.  was supposed to be 27 but our co decided we had enough. 

but now this month we're getting it made up to us and have every friday and monday off for the entire month.  i farging love it. 

in actuality though, m-f is a normal work week for the majority of the military.  and the 2.5 days/month is actually how we earn our leave.  so if i have 52 days right now and don't take leave this month, then as of march 1 i'd have 54.5 days on the books.

So now they are looking at 5 furlough days for state employees.  I am starting to wonder about taking some of the federal or military positions I have been offered.  These state jobs are too political.
