what were you doing drowning babies for a living?

no joke, you make whatever you do sound like hell.

ha, close.  I was slowly drowning myself every day I spent with those people in those organizations.  It was soul killing.   No sun, no wind, no truth, no sweat, no integrity, no satisfaction...nothing worth having.  Just money and lots and lots of scumbags.

When you're bullshtein job review requires you to evaluate how well you're progressing against your Main Effort to improve your Followership skills....run for your goddamn life.

i'm liking it much better than the hefty income which I "earned" sucking satan's cock for a living in my corporate pod, being held constantly responsible for things over which I had no control, suffering the ever constant reorgs and team training gimmicks, being forced to navigate the petty politics of people who do what they do solely for money, etc. etc.

that is hell

i was born and raised dirt poor...lack of money doesn't scare me.  sugar tastes better when you can only have a teaspoon of it a day.

the list of ways to drop your high cost lifestyle and be happier is endless

the only reason you don't give up the soul killing job is fear of not having money, and that's a bad bad reason to spend your life doing something.  either that or you're a slave to material wealth and the attention of others who worship it, which makes you human garbage and you should off yourself

I was born and raised without money too. But that has driven me to not want to live my adult life like that or whenI have kids for them to experience what I did. I want to be able to live nicely and provide them with things I didn't have. More importantly I don't want to not be able to pay my bills, which I saw a lot of growing up.

I do not live a life of extravagance though. I'm comfortable and don't waste my money.

But I do agree with working for "the man". I am easily angered these days with the life of being a company man. I got the shaft on something awhile back, something I felt I earned but was overlooked for in favor of a hired gun.

ice grillin you

if the govt is the "man"....then i love the "man"
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Yeah, I think I've gone from "I don't want to do this anymore" to "I can't do this anymore," which is a different beast. I've given a lot of thought to the dojo thing, but the financial model sort of sucks. I mean, the most you can get from a student is $100 a month, and by the time you factor in rent and insurance...there's not much left. That would have to be a side thing, because as a main source of income, I don't think it would work.

My tai chi instructor makes his living by using other people's facilities, doing senior centers during the day, and community rec programs in the evenings. I'm sure he doesn't make a ton, but at least he doesn't have to worry about property.

(I know it's a lot different from Aikido, what with teaching all the old folks and all...but I'm sure the model can be adapted.)

Well, in my case, there is the rest of the family to consider. When I bring up dropping out, I get looks like I'm going to abandon them in the street or something.

I totally understand what you're saying, though.

"we want to bring you in for an interview" = can you write a story a week for $45?

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

You live in one of the richest countries in the world, in by far the richest time the world has ever seen.
Just by being who you are, you are richer than 98% of the people on this planet and 99.9999% of people who have ever lived.
Why spend your life trying to be a little higher or lower on that scale?
Your wife will get over it, and your kids will love you or hate you no matter what toys you buy them.

It's not about trying to be higher or lower; it's about being able to pay the bills. With a steady income comes financial responsibility, and abandoning that without a sound plan of action is not very smart. The wife will support me, but not if I just chuck it all. And my kids are old enough that toys aren't the issue.

Anyway, I've been thinking on it, and I decided to sign up for a couple of SCORE seminars (starting a business, and making a business plan). Anybody ever been to one?

Zanshin

Never been to one, but I'd be interested to know what you think of them if you go.

so if the interview stipulates that dress is 'professional' and i show up w/out a sport jacket (but with the tie, shirt, slacks, shoes, etc.), is that basically a done deal right there? cause i dont own a sport jacket, theyre gay and uncomfortable.

buy a suit MDS, go to Boscovs if you want to save a few bucks, but if you want a job, dress up for it.

If you show up wearing a tie but no jacket, you look like a HS kid trying to get a job at a pharmacy
