I hate my job!

Oh, I'm fully aware of the business separation between employees and contractors. But I can tell you that I'm certainly not doing as well as my counterparts. Maybe my company is doing well, but the employees are no better or worse off than the average. The only positive I have is that I can actually get paid for showing up on a daily basis.

This is military (in essence), so there is plenty of Stupid Money available. And more and more, things are moving to project-based work, which lends itself to the temporary nature of contracting. It's certainly not cost effective in the long run, and I've seen so many built in inefficiencies in this system. Stuff that would never fly in the private sector.

The reason I even posted was to say that it sucks to work side by side with people, to share their struggles and help them do their jobs...and then when it comes time for the organization to show its appreciation, contractors are persona non grata. Yeah, I knew this going in, but it still sucks to be reminded of it.

ice grillin you

military must be different then cause i have never heard of a contractor not making more than their civilian agency equal counterparts

i totally get the human nature aspect of it as it pertains to the people you work with and see everyday...but at the same time that pretty much is known and comes with the terrority of contracting in the govt
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Yep, I know the nature of the beast. But it's not like I had much of a choice. Gotta pay the mortgage.

For what it's worth, my salary is probably in the bottom third (or less) of the range for others who do my job, with my level of experience. The big positive is that my employer (the company holding the contract) offer 100% paid healthcare insurance. But even if you factor that in, I'm still at or below the average.

Permanent, non-entry-level work in this area is pretty tough to find, especially for somebody as...well...seasoned as I am. I'm still trying to find a gig, but for now, what I have is close to home, it's regular, and because it's basically government work, the stress level is pretty low.

No longer have a job to hate, which is good and bad.  Good because the office environment was farging toxic and I don't think working for a major corporation is for me....I have a hard time motivating myself to make rich people even more rich.  Bad because, well, no paycheck now.  Not going to lose much sleep over it though because I really didn't have any intentions of staying there much beyond Jan 1.  Oh well.  At least now I'll have my Sundays off again.  Hopefully the Eagles get their shtein together and are at least worth watching.  I feel like I haven't missed much the 1st 2 weeks of the season.

I just had to fill out an 'emotional intelligence' evaluation for one of my co-workers. The word 'turdtastic' may have been used in the free response section.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

PhillyPhreak54

What the farg is an emotional intelligence evaluation?!

Diomedes

It's the kind of thing people with smart friends have to fill out, so never you mind.

PhillyPhreak54

Can you fill one out for me please?

Diomedes

Dude, I'm shoveling gravel all day tomorrow.  Not your guy.

I got called into our division HQ by the big guy today and found out I was transferred and promoted.   Start Monday.   Yay Romey.

Sgt PSN

What's the homeless situation at your new location?  Random drifters or full blown shanty town?

Rome

Zero homeless.  This is Richie Rich territory.

Thanks for caring though.  ❤️

PhillyPhreak54

I'm going to pay homeless to camp at your new door step

General_Failure

But if you start paying them they might not be homeless anymore.

The man. The myth. The legend.

PhillyPhreak54

Just enough so they're homeless and stay camped out
