I've worked from home for years, love every second of it, but I do enjoy the occasional day in the office.  I've said it before on here, people who are full time WFH employees have a system.  The once a week folks use it as a day off, see above post.

not sure i could do it 5 days a week but so far so good. especially this week when i avoided a 2 1/2hr ride home and todays weather.

speaking of, right now im looking at the snow fall as i sit at my desk warm a cozy knowing i dont have to deal with the iceholes on the turnpike.

im getting paid to wear sweatpants and watch tv today

say what you will about mindless soul crushing office work that is both unfulfilling and maddening and bureaucratically insulting to the common man....but damn this is nice.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I applied for wfh...Im next in line for approval. Since I didn't get it I have today off since our buildings closed. If you have wfh and there's a snow day you still have to work even if the buildings closed.

smeags

yes you do but between the peace of mind of not dealing with the iceholes on the road and the $17.50 per day savings it's worth it.

We found out today (via e-mail, ironically enough) that our county-wide personnel database files were hacked a few days ago by unknown parties.  As a result, we've all been given complimentary subscriptions to Lifelock for a year just in case.

Finishing up my student teaching tomorrow...well, today. Been with these 2nd graders every day since January 5th. Am really gonna miss them. Couldn't see my self teaching any grade younger though...2nd's definitely the lowest I could go.

Graduate on Sunday and then begins the process of applying for teaching jobs. Praying for a high school social studies job.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Good luck!  Are you set in staying near home or willing to move?  Second graders!  I give you credit man.  I coach high school soccer and after two hours I'm ready to strangle 3/4 of them or beat them silly with a clipboard.

It's funny how people feel about different levels.  I've had many people (mostly jokingly) question my sanity over teaching middle schoolers.  But I'm at the point where I couldn't see myself teaching any other level.  8th grade is a lot of fun.

Good luck finding a job.

Congrats Munson, sounds like you enjoyed this past gig, hope you find a good landing spot.

Rome

He's spent the last 15 yrs posting on various Eagles message boards.  I'd say he's ideally suited for teaching 2nd graders.

Probably worth a bullet on the resume.

took a new job in late dec after being at my prev job for almost 13 years...took a paycut but i would've had a heart attack at the old job...high stress/long hours/working for & with aholes.  also went from a 30 min commute to a 30 second commute...no exaggeration.  i could walk to work if i weren't so lazy.  much less stressful job...no long hours or taking work home with me.  much better work/life balance.  life is good.  8)

Same sort of job? I need that.
