Yeah, that place is great. I am looking to go back in march and I will probably stay there. The other thing is that the dealers there were awesome. They do not wear nametags and will remember your name and keep the discussion lively. The crew on my table was the best I have ever had. Even the pit boss was cool.

I love reading craps stories....when the table is hot there's no better place to be

come out march 11-14. not 100% yet but i think i have free tickets to the fight at mgm on saturday. the undercard is sick also.

Just wait a while. They don't always send them out together.

hmm...good to know. i guess i'll wait to start bitching to people who dont care.

Ok I will check my schedule and see if I can make it work.

This is the U.S. Department of State we are talking about here. I've heard some people say that theirs came the next day, and other people said it came months later. Basically, you should be happy if they don't lose it.

Diomedes

Oh Christ enough government bashing.  You couldn't run an organization 1/1000th the size with as much efficiency, and certainly not one as thoroughly regulated and subject to public scrutiny, so quit bitching.

I work for the government. I guarantee I could run my part of it with more efficiency. I'm pretty sure if I worked for the passport office I could figure out a way to have some kind of consistency with they way they interact with the public, too. And at the very least add passport and application tracking.

Diomedes

Oh my bad...all these years and the thing we need is you in charge.

As far as I'm concerned, the passport system works as well as you can expect for a country of 300 million wildly divergent people, facing permanent terrorist threat from individuals, fending off waves of illegal immigration as best as possible, subject to every weirdo citizen complaint, constantly at the whim of politicians, etc.

If you can't get your passport fast enough, or if they won't send your old one back fast enough, then you waited too damn long to start the process.

The committee for government complaint review has ruled.  Off to the re-education camp with you.

Any reports on the best places to stay/gamble and get comped would be helpful. If Bally's is one of the better ones, that's fine with me due to the great location. Plus, I was a winner at the Paris casino as well AND met Freddie Mitchell and his tasty tall white girlfriend.

Can't really go wrong with the value for the money at Bill's, though. I'd stay there again fo sho.

Updated response...

I just checked my offers online....as of right how, Harrah's is offering me these mid-week rates....

$127 a night for Ceasers
$67 a night for Planet Hollywood or Paris
$27 a night for Bally's, Harrah's, Flamingo, Rio (off the strip)
Free nights at Imperial Palace

Obviously those rates aren't going to hold up come summer time, but farg me for not having the time or the extra cash for travel right now.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

phattymatty

you need to gamble more. those rates are pretty steep for midweek...mine are all free even on summer weekends.

i'm not very picky about hotels but i stayed at imperial palace one night like 5 years ago and there were blood stains all over the bathroom floor.

I've heard a lot of similar stories about that place. The room at Bill's was at least clean and slightly updated.

I'm going on a Saturday-Monday trip to the Chester / Delaware County area. The other day, the Borgata sent me an invitation to a $50,000 slot tournament on Friday. I checked my room offers, and I do indeed have a freebie available for Friday night. So the weekend is now starting a day early - in A.C. I'm not sure how much I'll gamble, though. I'll probably just play for a couple of hours and then use up whatever comp I have for meals. Then stay away from the place for a long time (I've already dropped enough at that place).

phattymatty

i've watched the first ten minutes of one of those slot tournaments before...it's pretty funny.

Susquehanna Birder

It's actually kinda lame, and there's absolutely no skill involved (hey...it's slots). But sometimes they trot out free food and an open bar...so that alone makes it worthwhile.
