The PS3 is going to retail for something like $700 last I recall.

The hell? $700? Forget that I'd rather put that toward a new computer that will last longer and be more productive in the long run. $700... That's insane.

Got NHL 07 today. It's very very good. Excellent graphics, and the skill stick addition is just great. It makes puck handling so much fun. It's very fun trying to deke the goalie and get the puck by him. I was a 2k fan in the past, but this innovation is a can't miss IMO.

Sounds like EA finally stopped dicking around with the NHL game franchise. Maybe I'll give this one a whirl since their last few games have been complete trash.

Nintendo just announced their price on what used to be the Revolution.

And what may that price be?

Madden 07 Wii is the only version of madden this year that was built from the ground up because of nintendo's new 360 degree/3d full motion sensor control scheme.

whether thats good or bad remains to be seen.

the Wii seems cheap enough that i may give console games one last chance. before this, i was resigned to stop playing console games because they bored the hell out of me.

A few more things about NHL. It really does take quite a bit of time to get used to the new controls. All you really need are 3 things to play the game... literally. Left and right analog sticks, and the R trigger button. The R trigger switches players on defense and passes the puck on offense. The R analog stick checks on defense, and handles the pick with the stick on offense. Then the L analog stick moves on both sides of the puck. So that is really all you need and it takes quite a bit of getting used to.

There are a few complaints I have about the game early. The game doesn't seem to flow as well as the 2k series. 2k used to flow very well, but with the addition of the skill stick, that makes up for it. It doesn't play badly, it just doesn't flow as well as 2k.

There is no turbo. I thought it would suck at first, and I do miss it a little, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

It's a lot tougher to score in this game. Unless on the lowest difficulties. You aren't going to get any 12-10 games in this if you play on an adequate difficulty. Goals are tough to come by, which can either be good or bad depending on tastes. To me, I used to like a lot of scoring, but after playing 2k and the computer became challengeless, it got quite boring quickly. This game is pretty challenging. There are no more "take the puck and blow through the entire defense with turbo" goals anymore.

One confusing thing about the controls is they are reversed for each side of the ice. For example of you are the away team, you start on offense at the south end. On the south end you hit the R analog stick down to do a wrister and hold it up then down for a slap shot. If you are on offense in the north end then it's reversed. So you hit up to do a wrister and down then up for a slap shot. It makes it even harder to get used to the controls, because once you finally get used to it and the period ends, you have to switch it up on the other end.

The shootouts are amazing. The funnest part in the entire game. The skill stick is really a blast in the shootouts. Overall this game is very good. You probably can't go wrong with 07 or 2k7, but from what I played of 2k7, it is pretty much the exact same thing as 2k6, just with better graphics and presentation. 07 is a whole new experience.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

thats pretty much how I am looking at it. the controller is just mind boggling. i mean its either going to be one of the coolest technological inventions of our day that changes video games forever or it will suck and be more of a pain in the ass than anything.

Anyone getting Live 07? It's coming out the 25th. I havent even seen a commercial for it yet.

Here's the 76ers ratings. They added like 50 new ratings, which is ridiculous. One of them is "clutch," I'd be interested to see who has 99 but it doesnt really matter that much to me.

anyone of you crackers play madden 06 online? ill kick ur ass.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

If I'd seen this earlier, I would have played.  What's your online name?  I'm Zanshin25.  Feel free to add me.  I'm not on as much these days, but if you see me on, shoot me an invite.  I'll school you a little...and there are a couple of people on this board who could verify that ;).
