After a couple of hours of game play, I like the game.  I haven't even gotten to the combine yet.

-It's a little more realistic, as far as the player ratings go.  Also, each player has floors and ceilings (ie: Reggie McNeal has a floor of about 15 and a ceiling of 88, because he's a complete wildcard).  So, the players with bigger ranges have to be scouted more than once to narrow down.
-If you lowball an agent a couple of times, he'll get pissed and leave.  Cool little wrinkle.

In general, I wouldn't say this has enough extra features from Madden's frachise mode to make it worth purchasing in addition to Madden for a game console, but like I expected, it's a perfect "time waster" game on the PC.

Also, I like that it starts before free agency this past off-season.  This game is for you to impose your own strategy on a team, not to try to make it as much like real life as possible... IMO.

P.S.  Mike Martz is getting canned after this year.  Speaking of that, if you fire a bunch of coaches, you only have so much time for interviews.  Slightly more realistic, I suppose.

NFL HC is definitely addicting, but attention to detail is no better than Madden - or maybe worse.

The 2006 draft class is not "life-like".  Gocong was by far the BPA when I picked #9 overall in the first round, and he's my new starting LE (in a 3-4, and moving him to OLB would drop him from a 79 to a 60).

You get goals that don't always make sense from your owner and coordinators, but if you fail to reach them, it annoys the owner.  Of course, that could actually be more life-like.  He was pissed at me for not drafting a QB that was a 75 overall or better, even though there were none in the draft at all.

Training camp is about to start.  Jeff Garcia's my starting QB.  Hopefully, Mike Martz can figure out how to make him not suck.  My defense should be good, though.

Gocong got picked by Buffalo in my draft, the Lions took Santonio Holmes. :-D  And I think the attention to details is definately worse than Maddens.  Wait until you start playing the games, it is pretty cool, but at the same time it isn't all that great.   I got addicted to it for about one day before I realized it wasn't worth my time.  My hope for this game is that they make future generations and they improve drastically.  Management is the part of Madden that I enjoy the most so I was really hoping for something better in this game.

I am curious was you FA much like mine in that it was totally devoid of talent?  That part was somewhat frusturating I would have liked to add a stud a FA or two but was not able to.  I agree with you about the player ratings they are much more in line and I also liked the fact of players with the different floors and ceilings.

I know that sounds absolutely retarded but that is how it was.  At first I thought it was cool but it got very boring quickly and started to suck.  The thing that I liked about it was you get frustrated by players missing assignments much like a real coach would.  But the lack of passing really started to piss me off, maybe it will get better once I get to the regular season.

What could possibly be good about sticking to your opinion no matter what??

Yeah, I was hoping to add a half-decent FA QB, but they all sucked.  I'm stuck with Jeff Garcia, and he blows.

I've never played a single snap of any NFL football video game as a team other than the Eagles.

I don't know that is a good question, I guess I was planning on kicking but and getting an offer from them down the line.

I wanted to farg up another franchise while I was learning the game.

Judging by Jeff Garcia's performance thus far in training camp, it looks like I'm doing a good job.  Hoo boy he sucks.
