Just a little bit.   It seems that out of the console war for this year the Wii is the clear winner.  PS3 while a great system when they utilize it was outfitted w/a dvd blue ray that really is losing the war with HD DVD.  From a gaming aspect the BlueRay has more storage space but is harder to program.

The 360 took the smart route by using an external drive which if the Blue Ray somehow makes a turnaround they could sell external blueray drives.

the same guy who warned me of the PS3 launch shortages (back on this post) was telling me a few days ago that the only reason the PS3 "sold out" at launch was because there were so few of them.

that in the past 2 weeks, 75% of the gamestops in the area had PS3 in stock. no one is really buying them right now. sure some hard core gamers get them, but they arent selling nearly as well as they would have hoped. EB Games and Gamestops have canceled orders to sony for more for the next few weeks until they see how they sell the ones that they have in stock. a few stores have shifted their floorplan to put PS3 stuff in the back.

XBox 360's sold the most over the holiday shopping season, followed by the Nintendo DS (and DS Lite combind), then Wii (which would have sold tons more had they been in stock, Wii shipments apparenly do not last more than an hour after arrival).

I thought it was going to hurt their sales too, but every single PS3 unit sold that was shipped at launch. $600 isn't what it used to be and now kids in their teens can afford that with some weeks of work at minimum wage.

But regular DVDs definitely won't be obsolete. Companies may focus more on HD DVD and Blu Ray, but DVDs won't be obsolete. At least not for a long long time.

Playstation has a huge fanbase, it's no shock they sold every unit. What I'm saying is in the long run nobody's gonna give two shteins which system has Blu Ray or not, it's going to be games that ultimately define the console.

I agree. PS3 will have a really strong lineup down the line with games like MGS4, GT5, FFXIII, GTA, DMC, etc. The reason I think PS3 will do well is because of the great games it will have, combined with Blu Ray, which will allow developers to fully take the games to their potential. Oblivion on the 360 had to cut down on a lot of graphical details because they couldn't fit all of it on a DVD. With Blu Ray and HD DVD for 360 even, developers will be able to do more with games because they have a much higher capacity. So I think for Sony Blu Ray plays a part, but ultimately it will be the games, and Sony always has a strong lineup of great series for their systems.

I plan on owning all 3 systems, but I won't get a Wii for a while. Right now a 360 and a PS3 are enough for me. Even though the only PS3 game I have is Resistance.

I'm thinking of splurging on a Sega Genesis.

Centurion of Rome was a dope title.

Alien Syndrome, Altered Beast, Phantasy Star, Cyber Ball, R-Type just to name a few.

Sometimes I start reading a post, get about three sentences in, and then realize it's Bunk78.   I hate myself extra special when that happens.

I beat the game Prey for 360 recently. I liked it a lot. Playing Call of Duty 3 currently. Kinda disappointed. Not as good as CoD2. Less weapons, weaker missions, more cut scenes, and the maps are too linear. Also there are some slow downs. Solid game so far but not as good as CoD2.

I played Wii, 360, and PS3 for the first time a couple nights ago.  The Wii was easily the most fun.

that farger.  i've been looking for one for almost two weeks now.  of course, i have a job, and from what i hear you can't get one unless you run in the store the second they open.

If you want one really bad then try finding out a couple days before which stores are getting them in. Then go in to work late if you can. Unfortunately that same problem prevented me from getting a PS3 for a while.

Yea he works in a mall, so he'd just call to see if they got them in daily. got lucky yesterday and walked over to the store and got it. they didn't have any extra controllers though, he only had one.

Played Excite Truck and wii sports. Excite Truck was pretty badass.  Bowled and played baseball in wii sports. my freakin arm hurts from baseball. longest homerun, 593 ft out of the stadium. very very very cool with the new controller  :yay :yay

I can't wait to buy one myself. I was going to wait until I bought an HDTV, not anymore.

Also played Need for Speed Carbon for 360. Very fun racing game with crazy graphics

New 360?

Looks like the 360 is getting updated sooner rather than later. The new version is going to have a larger HDD (120GB), a cooler processor, and a HDMI port. The current premium version will be priced to $299 (New Core Version) and the newer version will (Zephyr) be priced at $499.
