Anyone seen a good movie lately?

I didn't hate The Tomorrow War. If you're looking for plot holes, there are dozens. And it could have been half an hour shorter. But it was a totally fine and mindless use of two hours with lots of good action. Not sure why it caught so much flack. It was never trying to be anything more than what it was.

Agreed on the review...great 2 hour time killer. I didn't know it got flack and not sure why anyone would give flack to free movies on channels like Prime. I go into movies like that with low expectations.

Watched all 3 Fear street movies on Netflix. It's teen horror slasher stuff with some satanic witchcraft thrown in. It's nothing great but the deeper into the story you get it gets semi interesting with a decent plot twist. Should have had more graphic sex scenes.

I've got the Fear Street movies queued up for my annual October horror movie binge. Up to 15 or so horror/thrillers on the list this year.

All new movies or repeats? I always watch Halloween. Hell House on prime isn't horrible. Open to suggestions because I can't find enough good horror flicks

It's a list of horror movies I haven't seen. I'll also watch a few of the classics but I try to use October to clear out my unseen horror movie list regardless of quality/reputation.

This year's list:
Fear Street x3
The Invisible Man
Altered States
Extra Ordinary
Happy Death Day 2U
Gerald's Game
Black Christmas (1974)
Ravenous
Saint Maud
Willy's Wonderland
Quiet Place II
Apostle
Werewolves Within

Went on an accidental Carla Gugino binge.

Gunpowder Milkshake: Trying very hard to be an all-female John Wick. Doesn't get there. It's plenty fun, and another fine way to waste two hours, but the choreographed action doesn't reach the same level as the Wick movies and there isn't any particular plot to speak of that could carry it beyond the action. Like I said, it's fun but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

Elizabeth Harvest: There seems to be a glut of low-to-middle-budget sci-fi thrillers with excellent casts being made recently and this is one of them. I love this genre and the weirdo artistic and philosophical creativity that it allows. Elizabeth Harvest isn't quite as smart as it thinks it is and it is slow paced despite being only 100 minutes, but still a totally decent entry into a genre that I like.

I can't believe I'm now the kind of nerd who cares about this stuff but I'm bummed at the new spider man trailer.

the latest spider man movies are what got me to watch the whole MCU timeline over lockdown and now I'm a big fan of almost all of them.  but doctor strange was by far my least favorite.  so the fact that the new spider man is involved is this multiverse mumbo jumbo is annoying.

Munson

I ended up loving Doctor Strange, and his role in the infinity wars. After watching WandaVision and Loki, I am ready for some weird Dr. Strange shtein. Plus it means bringing back William Dafoe and Alfred Molina and probably Tony McGuire too? Should be a shtein ton of fun tbh

But I fully admit that the multiverse stuff is gonna confuse the hell out of me lol.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

The multi verse is essential to marvels storytelling going forward. In far from home Mysterio talks about it. Wandavision and Loki are sort of introductions.

I mean yes I get that the multiverse is vital to the entire story, I just don't enjoy doctor strange or his abilities.  maybe the fact that he's more pulled into the spider man world will change that but I just find it too easy.  anything bad that happens, just go back in time or portal the bad guy to a different place.  I like to watch the fighting.

Rome

Iron Man II is horrendous.

Dr. Strange was just embarrassing.  Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One might be the worst casting decision in history.   Then again any movie with Rachel McAdams gets at least an extra star from me.

3 was horrendous. 2 was half decent

I like Doctor Strange. There's really not a MCU movie I dislike

Blame China for that casting decision.

The man. The myth. The legend.
