I've gleefully read the especially cynical reviews with my usual appreciation for literary absurdity.

It's a fargin popcorn flick about galactic sorcerers and robots.   Seriously.  See it or don't but attaching any significance to it is just idiotic and embarrassing.

wait, no ewoks again ?

farg that.

The review on Philly.com says it's pretentious and takes itself too serious.

you must be seeking them out or just by coincidence your normal movie review outlets dont like it because it has gotten largely very good to great reviews....last i looked it was 84% on rotten tomatoes....i wouldnt be seeing it if the reviewers i follow didnt like it...and i dont know this for sure but from many of them that ive read this may not be a pocorn flick...at least it seems  from what people are saying that it may be closer to the nolan batmans than a july 4th popcorn flick...it supposedly has a dark vibe to it

Some people have taken exception to how they've painted the Empire as villains.

The man. The myth. The legend.

they're just misrepresented by the mainstream media.

moonlight - as i suspected this movie was insanely overrated...no chance a movie with no white people in it about dealing with ones sexual identity wouldnt be....that said it was still very very good...very sad...but as far as dramas go this year it doesnt come close to touching manchester...where as manchester was 100% real life straight thru....moonlight has some not believable parts that they used as a narrative crutch to move the story along that didnt sit well with me

7/10

back country - if you liked open water about the couple stranded in the caribbean then youll love this...backcountry is basically open water but in the mountains and the replaced shark with bear...i dont recall the directors name but i know this was hius debut movie and he wrote it as well...id say he has a promising future

7/10

Rogue One - good first third, meh mid third, very good final third.  Definitely suffers a bit from characters not being fleshed out but has a more adult tone than the others and I definitely felt that the last few mins were exciting/moving.  B+

isnt this a one off movie where character development is kind of meaningless...like the whole point of the movie to me is to see how they went about stealing the plans....no?

Yeah.  And I liked the movie just saying some of the scenes that were supposed to be poignant with secondary characters probably fell a little flat because of char development.
