Also, like GF said, Clone Wars: The Series, is great and definitely worth a watch if you have Netflix and don't mind cartoons.

Is calling a cartoon an animated series the same thing as calling a comic book a graphic novel?

I liked the fact that Rogue One was dark and violent.  It was almost entirely free of the goofiness of most Star Wars movies.

yeah, I think the few claiming that this wasn't a great movie in this franchise wanted to see more of that cornball crap.

This is the problem with SW movies. Lucas set a precedent that these movies are for kids. While that is mainly true, stupid characters like the Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks only appeal to a select group of children. None of my younger cousins or friends children who are into the SW universe are into the goofy shtein. They're into the Jedi/Sith/Stormtroopers/Vehicles etc. It's no coincidence that two of the best SW films (ESB and RO) are both adult oriented and dark. ESB has always been my favorite SW movie. I was 8 when it was released. They need to leave the kiddy shtein to cartoons and keep the movies adult oriented.

Rogue One was great. Now that's the way a SW film should be. Not the prequels and definitely not TFA. I rank it right up there with the originals. The ending was just badass.

This. Saw it Friday night and thought it was easily the best SW movie since the originals.  Didn't overdo cgi, didn't introduce any stupid jar jar type characters, solid writing and acting, and the way they tied it into Epson IV was perfect.

didn't overdo the cgi, but when they did, like with Tarkin (peter cushing), it was pretty damn good.

plus, vader.

Right after I got home from the matinee, I watched Episode IV. Carrie Fisher hasn't aged a day!!

i think anyone who cares enough about being spoiled has seen it but ***SPOILERS***

just got back from rogue one....cant imagine any star wars movie will ever be better than this...take nostalgia out of it and it was on the same level as the first three

things i liked:

it stayed mostly away from cheese....they threw in the stupid reprogrammed droid as an ode to the fans and/or the other star wars movies as a comic foil but other than that it was free of most of that stuff

the cgi and i hate cgi was farging awesome....i dont know if the people who did it were that much better or if technology has advanced that uch but it was superb

i liked little aestheic touches like it pouring rain....has it ever rained in a star wars before?...the tropical locale of the planet in the final battle was  dope

because it was a one off i loved that every single major character died...which i guess they had to with that line in the first star wars about many good people losing their lives to get the plans

it didnt feel like a sci fi movie to me...it felt like a war movie that took place in space...i had a super strong saving private ryan vibe for much of the movie where the death star plans were private ryan

the writing was great and not dumbed down to a 4th grade level...it had at least a couple moments that gave you chills

i loved the story telling in this one which above all made it so much better than that schlock from last year...everyone knew the major backstory of course but how they tied everything together with her father and other things was pretty perfect

things i didnt like:

the final battle was interminable...i think every stars wars even the good ones are all pretty much 25-20 minutes too long but good god this one refused to ever end

not that any deaths in a movie like this are going to draw tears but the worst and most emotional death was imo saved for a farging robot...who the farg cares if a robot dies

this more made me lol than anything else but the blind dood can take out a 100 storm troopers by himself in that city early in the movie then walk thru a billion storm troopers shooting at him at the end but the farging force cant lead his hand to the switch for the communications johnson....it was so ludicrous when he was looking like he was reading braille searching for the lever

7/10
