Jedi redeems itself with the ending. Same with TPM and AOTC. TFA doesn't have that luxury, (super nerd alert) but taking a person who just learned about the force 20 minutes ago and having her defeat a trained Dark Jedi who's of the Skywalker bloodline is absurd. That on top of it being a retread just drops it down for me. Finn's character was too corny for my taste. I didn't mind Rey but I thought Jyn fit more into the Star Wars universe. Acting in Rogue One was better too.

Return of the Jedi has stuffed animals throwing pebbles to defeat an army.

The first two are on a different level.  I think Sith gets unfairly lumped in with the other two prequels.  When you get beyond the zesty acting from some of the leads, the movie itself is pretty good which is the same level id use to describe Rogue One and TFA.

I can overlook the Ewoks. The new scenes Lucas added were cringeworthy. But half the film is the assault on the new Death Star and Luke/Vader/The Emperor standoff. That alone ranks it in my top 3.

TFA would have been great as two movies. They could have actually fleshed out the villains in any way instead of having all of them be nothing characters. They could have shown why Phasma has her own unique armor. They could have shown General Hux doing literally anything, like training all those Imperial troops who became the First Order. They could have shown how Jar-Jar went from family friend to Uncle Bad Influence to Supreme Leader Snoke.

They could have shown Leia being a General, or at least holding the Republic together while her family fell apart. They could have shown Han Solo running from his problems, but probably not since Harrison Ford didn't want to be there anyway.

Instead of doing any of that, they just let JJ Abrams be JJ Abrams all over it.

Also, the best Star Wars is the Clone Wars tv show.

Did the Christmas special have an effeminate southern Hutt with tribal face tattoos? I didn't think so.

the revenant - pretty much what everyone said...absolutely stunning cinematography and landscape...incredibly well filmed...the movies couldnt be different but you can absolutely tell whoever did birdman did this...the story was basically predictable as hell but the story was like the 5th most important thing going on....i put the opening scene right with if not above the opening of saving private ryan...just spectacular

6.5/10

The Phantom Menace has Darth Maul and the best lightsaber fight in any of the 6 movies so that alone puts it above AOTC for me. Also puts it on par with Sith for me, but I know that outside of Hayden Christensen being a farging terrible actor, the story/movie overall is better. Plus seeing Yoda and Sidious duel=awesome.

I'm able to completely be indifferent towards Jar Jar so that's probably part of why I like TPM more than II and as much as III too.

Also, as for Rey being able to learn Jedi-shtein in such a short time, and the revelation that the Dark Side of the force is still around and wasn't eradicated by Luke, isn't the implication that Luke wasn't actually the chosen one, but perhaps Rey is? Thus explaining her seemingly unrealistic skill?

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I prefer the theory that Kylo can't talk with his grandfather's ghost because Rey is the reincarnation of Anakin.

I did not know that. I don't necessarily hate the ewoks, but if done with wookies instead and done right, ROTJ might have been an all time great movie
