Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Wow, I thought that was a great season finale.  It answered a lot of questions, but it also created many more.  Tremendous episode, makes you wonder if Walt and Michael are out of the show for good.

Wow. Did the Russian dude at the end say "him" or "it"? as in the island, or desmond.

So Michael and Walt are gone....kinda
Locke, Ecko and Desmond are...dead?
Sun, Jin and Sayid are on the boat, perhaps they come across Michael in season 3
Jack, Sawyer and Kate are going back to the others camp, as we will see what it looks like

Is Henry--him? I thought he could be, and it seemed like he was in control.

an EMP blast can't kill you, so they should all be alive in the hatch.

It's just a blast of magnetic pulse, which can't hurt you.

I'll write up a summary for you in a bit SD...

What? You don't really know what happens there yet.

The look Kate and Jack gave to each other was curious at the end, wonder what that means?

I don't know what happened, but do you think they'd really like 2 MAJOR characters die without a big-time death scene?

Plus an EMP bomb can't kill you. I mean if you have metal attached to you it could rip it right off your arm, but an EMP itself can't kill you.

Plus, think about it. When it said system failure, there was enough electro-magnetism to pull down a plane thousands of feet in the sky. Not to mention how heavy a plane is. If it's that strong, and people were standing in the room, and it could hurt you, you'd be dead already.

Summary for SD:(may need to edit a few times if I forget something that comes to me later)

Before reading you can watch the episodes on ABC.com so don't read if you'd prefer to do that.

They all run out to the boat and Jack finds Desmond there piss drunk. He explains he sailed for 2 weeks in a direction(forget what direction) and he should've found land by then but all that happened was he ended up back near the island. He said they are stuck in a "snow globe" and there's no leaving the island.

Locke tries to destroy the computer but Eko stops him.  Eko beats him up and kicks him out of the hatch. So then eventually Locke and Desmond meet up and talk. Locke tells Desmond about The Pearl hatch and asks Desmond to help him stop Eko from pushing the button. He said it needs to be done. Desmond agrees, so they lure Eko out and Desmond short circuits the the fuse box and the blast doors close and lock Eko out and Locke and Desmond in with the computer.

Meanwhile there was Desmond flashbacks going on throughout the whole episode. I'll summarize entire flashback right now or else I'll be jumping back and forth in this entire summary.

Desmond got kicked out of the royal army(forget the country, dammit) and got his things and left. He gets in a car, with a guy named Widmore. He's Desmond's girlfriend's father. Anyway, he says his daughter has moved on from him and is getting married, and offers Desmond a lot of money to just leave and start a new life. Desmond turns it down and is determined to get her back. One day he runs into Libby in a cafe or some place and they get to talking. He explains his story to her and tells her he's doing a race around the world. The winner apparently gets something from Widmore.

Libby tells him her husband had a boat and she gives it to Desmond. So he's sailing on it and gets knocked out in rough seas. He wakes up on an island and a guy in a quarantine suit and oxygen mask picks him up and takes him to the hatch. It turns out to be:

http://triviana.com/inter/clancy.jpg

The guy who struck a deal with Sayid in the war and let him go and gave him money. He's Kelvin. Anyway, he introduces Desmond to the whole hatch and everything. One day Desmond looks for him ad can't find him and he sees a floor panel opened. He crawls in and sees Kelvin down there drunk with a key next to an ignition type thing in the floor and says he can't do it. Desmond asks him what the incident was from the film adn Desmond says it's electro-magnetic and it was leaked, and it keeps growing until you hit the button to stop it. Desmond asks what happens when you turn the key in the thing and he says the whole place disappears. Then one day Desmond follows him out of the hatch and finds him along shore cliffs on the island. Desmond finds out he was secretly repairing Desmond's boat and was trying to escape. Desmond gets mad and accidentally kills him by knocking him into a rock and he bashes his skull in accidentally. I'll get to the rest of the flasback later

Back to present.

Sayid makes a plan with Jack for Michael. The plan is Sayid takes Jin and Sun on the boat around the island to scope out the other's camp, then come back around and make a signal smoke fire on the island. Then when Jack sees it when they are on their way, they stop and meet Sayid, Jin, and Sun and all invade the camp.

Well Sayid goes in the camp, and it's completely empty. The hatch is empty as well. Nothing is in it, an empty room.

A giant bird that hums the word "Hurley" attacks Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Michael, and Hurley on their way to the camp. On the way they see 2 people following them. Sawyer kills one of them and they let the other get away. Jack forces Michael to confess his plan and he does. They continue on their way and eventually get ambushed and the others knock them all out with some type of darts while hidden in bushes. They all get carried away knocked out except Michael, who's conscious.

Back at the hatch, Eko gets Charlie to help get through the blast doors. Charlie shows him the dynamite stash and they try to blow it up. It doesn't work and both get messed up pretty bad.

**Desmond flashback**

After where I left you off, and he accidentally kills Kelvin, he takes the Dharma key off from around his neck and runs back to the hatch. The timer wnet all the way down and the hatch is shaking like crazy. Things are flying and getting knocked over, and the speakers keep saying "system failure" over and over again. Theres a bunch of crap on the computer, which prevents him from seeing what to type, but eventually he types in the code and hits execute and it stops the hatch from getting destroyed. So now you know the button does prevent something. The hatch has a powerful electro-magnetism that goes out of control. Kelvin wasn't lying.

**Back to present**

Desmond tells Locke that maybe that the Swan hatch wasn't the test, but the Pearl hatch actually was, and advises Locke to push the button. There is very little time left. Lock says no and smashes the computer monitor.

**Final flashback**

Then Desmond has another flashback about him reading a hidden letter in his book from his ex-girlfriend who he loved. She told him that eventually he'll be important in some way and get a chance to save someone and be useful. He's about to kill himself when he hears a noise. He goes to the hatch top and sees Locke banging on it(from season 1). He suddenly has hope.

**Back to present**

Desmond opens the blast doors and Desmond says to Locke that he saved him in the past, now it's Desmond's time to save locke. He tells Locke to get the hell out of there. Charlie and Eko survive the dynamite blast and Eko is pressed out of it. He gets him back on his feet and then Eko goes in the room with Locke and they both kinda just stand around in confusion as to what's going on. Everything metal in the hatch is flying everywhere and getting sucked to the magnet source. Desmond goes in a hidden floor panel(hidden under one of the large tall equipment things) and turns the key in the ignition thing. An insanely big bright light shoots out.

The scene cuts to the others and Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, and Michael. The light is so big, they are on the entire other side of the island, and it's insanely bright from there it completely englufs the entire island in white light. Then it goes away eventually. The others(Zeke, who we find out's name is Tom and Mrs. Klugh who we find out's name is Dei I think) are all there. Kate also lets them know that they know they have disguises on. The speed boat pulls up and out comes Henry Gale who assumingly is actually the leader of the others. He tells Michael they keep promises and gives him the speed boat with Walt inside. Tells them to travel 325 degrees to find the way out, and when they do get out that they'll never be able to get back there even if they wanted.

They unmask Jack and crew, and they let Hurley go. Hurley is told by Mrs. Klugh to go back to the survivors and tell them never to come back here. They are keeping Jack, Kate and Sawyer though. Michael drives off with Walt in the speed boat.

Then back on the beach Charlie comes out of the hatch mess ok, but Eko and Locke and Desmond are nowhere to be seen. Charlie and Claire chat for a bit, and she kisses him.

Then the final scene has some people in some place out in the arctic. They are portugese and playing chess. Then something was flashing on a computer screen and it said something about detecting electro-magnetic. They type something in a nice computer and make a phone call. The girl they call turns out to be Desmond's ex-girlfriend and they tell her "We found it!" and it ends.

If that's confusing my fault because it's a lot to process. I'm tired, light-headed, so I hope I got everything. If not I'll update it tomorrow or just watch the episode on ABC.com.

Dude that was great, I can't thank you enough. Very easy to understand. I caught some of the stuff on the Lost boards but they're all over the place and most of their posters post stupid theories. Can't wait till I get a break so I can check this out for myself. Thanks again.

The finale was crazy. Like every episode has answers but always gives you questions in return. I'd be pissed if Locke and Echo are killed off b/c there are some of the most intersting on the show, so I'm betting they will still be alive. I doubt Abrams will build a show around Charlie or Bernard. I'd wish there was more answers but then they wouldn't have the hook to get me for the fall.
I see salt and I see pepper, but I don't see a salt substitute.

Question. If you had gone through this experience, someone could come to you later amd convince you that it was all a fake and you shouldn't push the button? Huge flaw in the story. A) If I was the Desmond character I wouldn't fall for that. B) The Desmond character that is in all those flash backs wouldn't fall for that.

Uhh, left out the important part where Desmond searches through the computer printouts and discovers that the hatch system failure and the day the plane crashed (Sep. 22) are the same. Desmond realizes he caused the plane crash then tries to convince Locke its real then....

I doubt they're gone. Remember what Desmond said about his attempt to leave the island? He kept a fixed heading, and he ended up where he started. And Henry, knowing this would happen to Michael, told him to stick to a heading of 325.

I liked how Henry ended up being in charge. That was pretty cool.

It's true that the pulse itself isn't necessarily damaging, but I'd have to think that whatever causes the pulse has to have some physical effect to those in close proximity.

I'm sure it was "it" as in the boat.  I'm sure the Desmond's girl set up Libby to give Desmond the boat, complete with a hidden GPS to keep tabs on him.  But the magnetic fields would have rendered it useless...it seemed like the Russians had the signal once (when the system initially failed and the plane crashed), but lost it when the system was restored.  Now they find it again after the latest system failure.
