For those who want to watch the first episode again, it will air at 8:00 Wednesday, prior to the episode. I will definitely be setting the DVR for both of 'em this time.

Americans are stupid. I think the writers were shocked and upset with the fans reaction to the season finale, which they were boasting as being really good and exciting and such. So, they're basically giving the fans what they want--answering questions and going inside the hatch, etc.

I, for one, want this to drag on as long as possible. It's a great show. It's an hour out of my usually boring, simplistic day. I enjoy getting swept into the show. I just let it take me along for the ride (teehee). Unfourtnatley, not everyone thinks like me. Which sucks, cause they should. I'm always right.

I agree.

So uh last nights show sort of blew, was too much of a repeat of the season premier. One thing I noticed was the DHARMA symbol on Desmonds T-shirt and inside the food cabinet was also on the Sharks Fin. Anyone else catch this?

You can pack too much awsome into every episode. It was interesting to see what happened with the people in the hatch, but its stuff they could have covered in the first episode. But, this is the second consecutive episode to end on a cliffhanger. Actually, there are two cliffhangers, because we never really moved anywhere in the hatch storyline.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I agree it was pointless, this is the only time I have been extremely disappointed with the show.  It basically told us shtein we already knew.

You didn't know that Michael gave his son a polar bear before he went away forever, or until his mom died  :crazy

I noticed that too. I haven't seen season 1 yet but from what I hear the Polar Bear makes its appearance throughout in relation to Walt. I wonder what the signifance of that could be? Also, Jack certainly knows Desmond but Desmond doesn't seem to remember him so far. And I found it somewhat surprising that he was asking if anyone was sick and if the outside world still exists. He also seemed awfully surprised when hearing the plane had crashed there 44 days ago. Next weeks show should be interesting when we finally see the 'others'.

I didn't like last night's episode either, except that now I know that next week will rock.  The two things I noticed were already mentioned -- thepolar bear, and that Desmond doesn't seem to recognize Jack.  Could point back to that whole "everybody has a twin" thing discussed last week on CF....

I must have missed an episode or something...  what's the significance of Dharma?  That fact that it is on the shark's fin must make it pretty important.

Here's something about that symbol from the site that Avenger gave the link to earlier:

Quote
The symbol is a Feng Shui Ba-Gua . A Ba Gua is one of the tools used in Feng Shui to help determine preferred locations for certain functions. Feng shui (Chinese geomancy) has been used for thousands of years by Chinese people to harmonize themselves to their environment and to create good fortune

The image is also important do to the many mirror references in this episode: mirrors in the hospital, mirrors in the bunker and bottom of the hatch shaft, the Feng Shui Ba-Gua is also called the "Feng Shui Ba-Gua Mirror".

I finally got time to watch last week's episode last night, and agree...a bit too much rehashing of last week's episode, RE: the hatch, with some of the details filled in. I was thinking maybe the initial episode was written to be a two-hour show, but was chopped in half by ABC...it at least appeared to be written in that way.

RE: Desmond and the shark, I was thinking that the symbol may be indicative of some parent company that is doing some kind of genetic research...maybe Desmond is a clone (looks like same Desmond, doesn't seem to know Jack), the shark genetically engineered, and the "others" being experiments gone wrong, who were left to live/die on the island.

No idea what the count-down and then the required entry of the sequence of numbers is, unless it's some kind of automated self-destruct device that needs to have someone put in a combination periodically so that it doesn't detonate, to ensure that someone (Desmond) is still alive to reset it.

Of course, this is all massive speculation and most likely completely incorrect.
