QuoteExccccellent strategy...for drafting someone who will never see the field for you.  Actually, looking at your roster...he might.

Hey, they'll be good enough to beat you, Mr. Z.  And my last pick will most likely see the field for me or for someone else...granted that my guy is still there.  He has "potential".

Picked this up in the fantasy section.

QuotePhiladelphia Eagles: Gone are the days Terrell Owens will be considered a first-round pick in fantasy drafts. Owens is still a fine player, but his move to Philadelphia is not likely to help his stats. The Eagles will still throw to Owens more than their other options, and he should score 10 TDs, but he'll also face many double teams and need to hone his blocking skills, for this remains a running team. Draft Owens as your top receiver, but realize his numbers are likely to go down due to circumstance.

Pretty much everyone still out there has "potential."

For this remains a running team?  Eh, okay.  More accurate to say that they spread the ball around.

I want to comment on this but cannot for fear of letting my pick out of the bag before I'm up.

Actually, there are a handful of guys out there who could have a legitimate impact.  I almost took one...but i can get that position elsewhere in a pinch.

Seeing that I left my "list" at work and T-hawk won't be back on until then....I guess I'll need to wait to make my pick.  Recent developments have me having to decide between a handful of players....EG, Chris Brown, Antowain Smith, to name a few...

I was going to take Chris Brown thinking he was going to replace Tenn...but rumor has it A. Smith is going to be signed.

Let me help you with that complex decision. ;)

Chris Brown

That's from the 4th round.

mikey418

Crap...I didn't think anyone took him yet.  Now I really need to wait until tomorrow to check out my list.  I was targetting a RB but I may go WR now....not like it matters since Thawk is after me and then all the other players go on waivers...

here is a thought im gonna throw out there.  Would you guys like to start 3 RB's and 3WR's in our keeper league?   I think it would be fun because we have all these extra players on our rosters and most of them will never be used for anything barring massive injuries.  Let me know if you like that idea or if you have another idea for starting more of our players.

mikey418

Looking at my roster I would have to say "no"....that's what the flex position is for.

It makes it more interesting and harder on each "coach" since tough decisions are involved week to week to determine who to start, etc.  And in a lot of cases (I know I lost a bunch this way last year) if you mess up by starting the wrong guy and you're bench player performs better, you lose for the fact that you 'played' the wrong guy.

To be honest, I like this element of fantasy football - of making decisions that involve football and determine the success of my season.  Granted some are bad decisions, but it's still fun to think about.  Adding another WR/RB to the mix would take more coaching errors out of determining the games...which fantasy football is about playing the "coach" with real players week in and week out.

so we are using a "Flex" position starter this year?  My mind is so boggled from trying to keep track of everything i cant remember.

Tomahawk

If you want to start more players, add a flex or two, please.

mikey418

Yeah...at least that's how we've done it in the past:

QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
WR/RB (flex)
TE
K
Def

ok, I forgot about the flex there for a moment.  I will just keep it the same as  before with 1 flex starter.  Thanks mikey.
