But we all know the answer. And that would have been the end of team captains. There would be no C's on the uniforms this year and no elections ever again. Too bad it didn't happen.

right, because if a captain gets in trouble the commissioner is going to scrap the entire thing.  makes total sense.

No, if a captain gets in trouble you can have the dramatic news stories of him getting "stripped of the C" like they do in the NHL.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.
