I have the following players in a 14 team league:

QB - Pennington, McNair
RB - Droughns, Rudi Johnson, Duce Staley, Steven Jackson
WR - Harrison, Fitzgerald, Koren Robinson

I have gotten the following offer: Leftwich for Rudi OR Duce.

Should I go ahead and sacrifice my depth at RB(14 team league so there is nothing on waiver wire) for Leftwich(who is on fire), or do I stick with Pennington and hope McNair somehow returns to form at some point?

MURP

tough one... where are you at in the standings?? Do you need to make a move in desperation or are you fine as is?

joneszilla

I am 4-3 and in 4th place(top 3 make playoffs), the guys in 2nd and 3rd are 5-2.  The guy in 5th is 3-4.

I actually lost last week by 2 points cause i started McNair who got me 0 points.   :bash

I don't make that trade unless I know I can then dump McNair or Pennington onto someone in return for an RB.

You want RB depth more than QB depth, I reckon.

If you have the option of trading Johnson or Duce, I would trade Duce because he's already lost 7 touchdowns this year to Bettis.  However, you RB depth would take a pretty big hit because even though Duce isn't getting in the endzone, he is getting you respectable points each week based on yards.  Stephen Jackson isn't getting enough time on the field to put up consistant numbers.

I honestly think you're better off where you're at.  Pennington is a solid fantasy QB.  He's also proven where Leftwich could be peeking right now and then start slumping.  IMO, you'd be putting a lot of faith in a 2nd year QB with an injured ankle.

But should you decide to make the trade anyway, I would sacrifice Duce rather than Rudi.

MURP

See if you can give him McNair and Jackson for Leftwhich and an RB.  ;)

Diomedes

Unlikely he'll bite on that, but give it a go.

Could also try McNair and Duce for Leftwich and a healthy RB.  Who are his RBs?  I assume he's trying to add RB though, so unlikely he's got much there.

Whatever you do, avoid having three QBs.

He has Mewelde Moore, Barlow, Onterrio Smith, and famous Amos Zeroue.

MURP

eh, i dunno if I would make any trade the more I think about it.  Jax has a bye coming up while the Jets have already had their bye...   both teams have relatively the same strength of schedule as far as teams with solid dbacks... kind of  a wash.   I would personally keep the RB depth and stay with Pennington.

Diomedes

In other words, he's got jack.  Offer him McNair and Duce in return for Lefty and Moore.  If he bites, you've done well.  If not, let him hang with his crappy RBs.

I don't know about that.  I like Penninton's  odds of putting up legit points in the second half of the year over Leftwich.

As do I.  That's why I say offer McNair, not Pennington.
